And now, for all our viewing pleasure…a drifting Enzo.

Someone who shot this video must be quite the music and car buff. For today, we have a Ferrari Enzo drifting around a bunch of dirt trails, set to the background music of Beethoven’s Symphony No.9, “Ode To Joy”. This is most definitely an ode to joy–it’s a drifting Enzo. I bet a lot of people are cringing at the sight of someone thrashing an Enzo, but this still some spectacular driving and camera work–even if one cameraman drops his camera at the very end. If you’ve got two minutes or three, watch this video–it’s a few minutes well-spent.

This episode of Drive, Chris Harris…

…gets his hands on a McLaren 12C Spyder.  Chaos, tire-destroying awesome ensues all over the Ascari test track.  As an engineer, I happen to be completely bowled over (in a good way) about the work that went into this design–it’s a masterpiece of automotive design and engineering.  Watch the video to see more.

Autocross: It’s for any car, and any person.

This man here, Dick Eytchison, is probably the coolest AARP member in the state of Colorado.  This is his blue 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 4-door sedan, and he’s autocrossing it.  He’s recovering from open-heart surgery and he’s been married for 46 years.  If this doesn’t prove that autocrossing is pretty much for everyone of all ages, I don’t know what does.  Great video, and yes, you’ve got 5 minutes to watch it.  This was posted on Jalopnik yesterday afternoon and I feel that it’s definitely worth watching again, what a fantastic example of how the love of automobiles doesn’t go away as one gets older.

1936 Auburn 852 Boattail Speedster at Concours

Auburn boat-tail speedsters like this one are among some of the world’s most collectible prewar American convertibles, owing to their extremely low production, high price tag, and (for the era) blistering performance.  This flawless black example showed up to the Pebble Beach Concours this summer, and I was fortunate enough to grab a few pictures of it.  This one in particular is a 1936 Model 852, the final year of production for not only this car, but the Auburn name as a whole.  It is a breathtaking car, and with only 1850 sold during 1936, this 100mph-plus roadster was a treat on the street in its day, and still is today. 1950 Abarth 205 at the Scarsdale Concours

This past Sunday, Nick and I attended the Scarsdale Concours,  just a stone’s throw away from New York City.  Started in 2003 by a pair of high-school students, this show has grown to a respectable size.  This year, the Best of Show winner was this drop-dead gorgeous 1950 Abarth 205 berlinetta, one of only three ever built.  This particular one was the last one produced, and the only one with a two-tone paint scheme.  It was shown at the Turin Motor show as well, in this color scheme. Hit the jump for more pictures.  This car, thanks to its absolute rarity, classy lines, and race car breeding, definitely deserved its award, and we hope to see it at other Concours in the future.  Read the rest of this entry »

Porsche 356/2 at the Concours D’Elegance

This is a display of Porsche's simplicity and beauty at its finest. I love these cars.

I’ve been a fan of the Porsche 356 since I was at least 9 years old, after seeing one in a buyer’s guide.  This particular example is a 1949 356/2 Coupe, one of the first 50 built, handmade in Gmünd, Austria in 1949.  In this particular color, it looks positively breathtaking.  This one is owned by Ferry Porsche’s son, Hans-Peter Porsche.  It won Best in Class this year, in the Postwar Sports Closed Class, at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours. Enjoy the photos.

Delage D8-120S at the Greenwich Concours

Delage D8-120S. So beautiful.

This gorgeous French sports car of the prewar era, a black 1938 Delage D8-120S Aerosport Coupe took home the top International honors of Best in Show and People’s Choice at the 2011 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, held last month.  During the Depression, Delage was bought by Delahaye, and by 1953, it had ceased to be after a tumultuous time in the early Fifties, when less than 100 were made during three years.  More pictures after the jump.

Ferrari Fantasy

An Impressive Lineup To Say The Least!

Ok, so the last article was all about the Lamborghinis at Le Belle Macchine d’Italia, well I am back, and with Ferraris this time!  There are a couple more photos than last time, and the only real organization this time is that I will be separating them from the ones that were taken at the track, and ones that were taken at the Concorso   Read the rest of this entry »

For The Love of Lamborghinis!

LP640-4

Given the title of this post, I hope you guys are expecting to see some shots of beautiful specimens of the Raging Bulls.  All these pictures that you are about to see were taken by me at Le Belle Macchine d’Italia.  Le Belle Macchine took place in the Pocono Mountains from the 24th of June to the 27th.  It is considered to be the largest Italian car show in the US and this year got a bump from 3 days to 4 days.  Friday and Saturday was the Concorso d’Eleganza held at Mt. Airy Resort and Casino, and Sunday and Monday were the 2 days that cars were able to show off their power at Pocono International Raceway, where they were kinda enough to open up the road circuit part in the infield.  For more information, here is their website.  If you are interested in attending one, they have 2012′s scheduled for the Poconos, and they also have one in the fall in Daytona! http://www.italiancarevents.com/

First up, we have a beautiful, black Murcielago LP640-4.  The first shot is of it at the Concorso and the second is of it pulling out of the parking lot at the Concorso.     Read the rest of this entry »
