The Stance Movement has become quite a big thing in recent years. For those unfamiliar with the trend it is sort of like a neo-lowrider thing. People have been taking cars of all sorts and dropping them down as low as they can go, all in the name of “Stance”. Nowhere is this fad bigger than in the Volkswagen crowd, as can be seen at a host of water themed events that take place all over the country. My friend Justin spent months scouring the forums to find a slammed VW of his own, and he finally found the clean ’98 GTI you see here. He was nice enough to let me take it out recently so I could see what a slammed car is all about from the driver seat. What followed was a very interesting experience. Read the rest of this entry »
This is a genuine R34 Skyline GTR spotted on US soil. I saw it drive by while I was in Birmingham, and then I was able to find it later on Woodward Ave. It has a legitimate US registration and was imported legally through Motorex while they were still in operation. It has remained a US legal car because it was used as a test car for updating Skylines to OBD2 specifications. This may well be the cleanest R34 Skyline in the United States, certainly the cleanest one I have seen in person. The owner was very cool and happily showed me around the car. It also has only Nismo modifications on it, so this R34 is the equivalent of a numbers matching muscle car for Skylines; very special these days when everyone wants too much horsepower at the expense of all else. It attracted a decent amount of attention, but not as much as I would have figured because most folks around here are all about muscle cars. I was fortunate enough to have some unobstructed photo time with this beautiful R34, so I got some great shots (the fact that it was sunset helped too). Enjoy the pics.
At the Shell station on Woodward Ave during a Saturday cruise night. I am a sucker for cartoonish Mopars and its bright green allure forced me to stop and take some photos. The owner, Fred, was also very cool and showed me around the whole car. The car is currently making around 600hp all motor, and has a nitrous setup in the trunk if more than that is desired. It is a real badass piece of American Muscle on a nice street-able drag setup. This car is oozing with fun personality, and that night it stole the show; not an easy feat during weekend cruise nights here in Motor City. Enjoy the pics. Read the rest of this entry »
Spotted these two on a recent trip through New Hope. Awesome cars. Also please excuse us if things are a bit slow here in May, Al is busy with post graduation stuff and I will be in Germany till the end of the month. We will stay on things as we are able, but just know we haven’t forgotten, quite to the contrary. Much more content will be found in Germany.
The Evo 8 was the first version of the famed Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution to hit US shores back in 2003, following the success of Subaru’s WRX Imprezas in years prior. The Evo was a different sort of animal though, offering 271hp to the WRX’s 227hp as well as a higher level of technology in its all wheel drive system. The Evo became the car to beat in 2003, so much so that Subaru decided to bring its WRX STi to the US for 2004. The Evo offers a simple but effective package; on the surface it is just a tweaked version of a Japanese economy sedan, but in its day it could also rival many serious performance cars like Porsche’s, M3s, and Corvettes. My friend Pete, has a 2005 Evo 8, and every so often he lets me get behind the wheel, so after a recent drive I finally felt like I had enough to put pen to paper on the car. This is a very unique Murcielago, other than just being a Super Veloce which makes it rare enough. This car is matte brown with gold accents and it pulls it off beautifully despite being quite different from the usual Lamborghini fruit salad colors. This SV is also quite rare in that it doesnt have the big rear spoiler, just a ducktail on the back, and it is also one of just a few SVs to have a clutch pedal. This has to be my favorite Murcielago I have ever seen anywhere by a long shot. This car is just so unique and pulls off the different look beautifully. It stand out, even in a crowd of Lamborghinis. Now that should tell you something right there. More pictures inside. Read the rest of this entry »
If you are someone who has practical needs but also desires some serious performance, then you should look no further. Subaru’s WRX line offers everything you could want from a car. It offers all of the practicality, affordability, and reliability of any normal Japanese sedan but also with outstanding performance and handling that is sure to make your driving experience less about getting from point A to B and more about the area in between. Being an owner of an 04 STi I can attest to just how much fun these cars are. Also, if you live somewhere that has varying weather, no need to worry because Subaru’s all wheel drive system will handle even the worst conditions with ease. In a WRX snow is something to be excited for, not something to be feared or dreaded. I would even go so far as to say that if you don’t go hooning around in the snow in your WRX it is the same as if you never walked your dog, it’s just not fair. Read the rest of this entry »
Turns out this car belongs to a friend of a friend. I know the car is highly modified will keep pace with most newer Ferraris, not sure exactly what has been done to the car though. S15 Silvia front end conversion and what looks to be Advan wheels. Very legit car
