Lamborghini Aventador at Amelia Island

Amelia Aventador 3

Lamborghini brought this snazzy red Aventador to the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island for test drives. As you might imagine, the list was pre-booked, but we got ourselves on the waiting list in case someone decided they didn’t want to have an awesome day. Well, nobody skipped their drive, but I still needed to find a use for the photos I took of this stunning car, so here they are!

I maintain that the Aventador is the best looking Lambo since the Miura. There is just something ohh so right about its sculpted, angular shape that will make a Murcielago seem obese by comparison. Red is also a fairly uncommon color on an Aventador, so as it sat there, looking like a luscious red pepper, I was compelled to snap a few pics of it. Enjoy!

Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670 SV at Festivals of Speed, Amelia Island

Lamborghini LP-670 SV FOS 1

One of the stars of the Festivals Of Speed, Amelia Island this year was this bright orange Lamborghini Murcielago LP-670 SV. There were a number of flashy Lambos vying for attention on the show field, but somehow this “Super Veloce” edition of the Murcielago always seemed to stop people in their tracks.

This bull is a beast. With a 661hp 6.5L V12 under its hood, it can hit 60mph in 3 seconds flat, blast through the 1/4 mile in 11.2 seconds, and go on to a v-max of 209-213mph (depending on the aero settings). In addition to its incredible performance, the SV is a proper Lambo with all of the “machine guns” fitted, as Clarkson likes to say. It has that silly-awesomeness that seems to give it a strong gravitational pull on everyone’s attention. The SV is also an extremely rare bird with just 350 units produced, however there are rumors that as few as 186 units were actually produced before the factory had to be revised for Aventador production.

It is always awesome to be in the presence of a Lamborghini of this caliber. Bella Machina!

Tumbler Batmobile
The only street legal Tumbler Batmobile around. This one IS a car!

We attended the 2014 Festivals of Speed at Amelia Island. There were some major cars in attendance with flavors to suit all tastes, everything from classic Ferraris to slammed VWs to the Batmobile you see above. These are the highlights of the event, and there is a lot more where this came from. Enjoy!

Lamborghini Miura Roadster at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance

Lamborghini Miura Roadster at Amelia Island
The Lamborghini Miura Roadster at Amelia Island

There were over 700 Lamborghini Miuras produced over a period of six years, but the car you see here is the one and only roofless example. Built by Bertone for the 1968 Brussels Auto Show, the Miura Roadster may well be the most stunning Miura of them all, with its vibrant, sparkling aqua-blue paint job.

We had the unexpected privilege of seeing this car up close at last year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. The Miura Roadster was in attendance as a part of Lamborghini’s 50 year anniversary celebration, and it even took the first place prize in the Lamborghini judging class. I had actually seen the car once before at Pebble Beach in 2008, but this time around I was able to get far better photos.

The one-off Miura Roadster set the precedent for the roadster versions of the Diablo, Murcielago, and now, the Aventador. Open-top V12 motoring is something we should all be glad exists. Enjoy the photos!

Lamborghini Veneno at Pebble Beach

Here we will be discussing the cars from the Pebble Beach Concept Lawn. Now that some time has passed since the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, we can see a little more of what has become of some of these incredible machines, or in some cases, more accurately, these cool ideas.

Matt Farah compares the Lamborghini Countach and Aventador

In this video from the The Smoking Tire, Matt Farah does a brilliant comparison between the Lamborghini Countach and the current Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. It is interesting to see how a now timeless classic compares to the latest and greatest V12 Supercar.

Enjoy.

Presenting, the Lamborghini 350GTV

The Lamborghini 350GT is known by many as the first car to be sold bearing the Lamborghini name back in the Sixties.  However, it wasn’t the first car the company built.  That honor goes to the sleek green shape seen here.  This is the Lamborghini 350GTV, a prototype that eventually became the basis for the 350GT.  This car is the origin and the first use of the vaunted Lamborghini V12 engine that would later go on to power most of the lineup until today.  The bodywork also contributed to the 350GT.  It was featured at Pebble Beach this year in honor of Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary.  I can honestly say that it doesn’t look too similar to any other Lambo I’ve seen, save for maybe the 350GT.  Enjoy the photos. Test Driven: Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, Al’s Take (Grade: A)

I don’t like the phrase “lame-duck.” It implies a constantly negative connotation. I don’t like negative connotations when it comes to anything that’s orange, Italian, and far too loud. Despite that, the Gallardo, one of Lamborghini’s most successful models, is indeed on its way out. This particular orange Italian screamer was the third car of four that I drove in Las Vegas last summer and, thanks to the scorching temperatures, the one I was the most fearful of not being able to drive. Luckily, this Lamborghini stayed cool in the heat, while I roasted in the sunlight before taking the wheel. It didn’t disappoint.

Spotted! Lamborghini Diablo, Carmel, CA

After Nick and I finished shooting the Aston Martin One-77 off of Ocean Avenue in Carmel the first full day were in California last summer, we thought we were done for the day in Carmel.  We were a bit wrong about that.  Once we got back to the rental car, a black Lamborghini Diablo was staring both of us square in the face, sharing its portion of the pavement rather reluctantly with a Ferrari F430 Scuderia.  Of course we took pictures of it–why wouldn’t we?  This is one of the slickest-looking Diablos I’ve seen, especially with the black Murcielago rims which give this example a most sinister look. Fun from Mach 5 Cars’ Exotic Rally Tour

I recently visited Mach 5 Cars to take part in one of their Exotic Rally Tours. Two of my friends work for Mach 5, an exotic car rental company in the Tri-State Area, and this is something I had been meaning to do for a while now. I took a few pictures, and shot some video of the fun we had on the tour. I was partnered up with my friend, Pete, who works for Mach 5, so when he was driving things got a little crazier.

So check out the video and the photos. Enjoy the sights and sounds of what was surely one of the more exciting days I have had in a while. We look forward to more collaborations with Mach 5 Cars in the future. Check out their website, and give them a call if you want to get yourself behind the wheel… their Exotic Rally Tours are one of the best values in the business. Enjoy.

Spotted! Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Carmel, CA

Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in Carmel, California

Among the droves of exotic cars running around Carmel, California during Monterey Car Week, this Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 caught my eye. I love this shade of blue on Lamborghinis, and the lineup of plebeian cars behind it really shows off the Murcielago’s exotic form. Lamborghinis are meant to be appreciated in the real world, amongst boring everyday things. That is where the are most extraordinary, and that is where the contrast is most extreme.

Spotted! Lamborghini Aventadors, Carmel, California

Black Lamborghini Aventador in Carmel

We caught these two nasty Lamborghini Aventadors running around Carmel during Monterey Car Week. I maintain that the Aventador is the best looking Lambo since the Miura, and definitely one of the coolest looking cars on the market today. Bruce Wayne has arrived!
