Ferrari F50 at Cars and Caffe

Ferrari F50 Cars and Caffe 2

One of the hypercars present at Cars and Caffe was this red Ferrari F50. Once the ultimate Italian stallion, it may remain the ultimate analog Ferrari roadcar of all time. Long before the luxurious and technological frills of modern hypercars, the F50 was literally just 2 seats strapped to the V12 engine from an F1 car wrapped in a swoopy body with a big old wing. You had to physically shift your own gears, and there was no radio, no sound deadening, and the engine was actually a stressed member of the chassis itself so every vibration became a part of you on a deeply personal level.

They sure as hell don’t make them like this anymore.

Ferrari California T Review: Is It Sweeter Secondhand?

Ferrari California T Review 16There is something extra-remarkable about the Ferrari brand. It’s more of an exclusive lifestyle club than just a car company at this point. The car is merely your ticket to join, but all Ferraris are not created equal.

The Ferrari California T bears the burden of being the entry-level member of this most exclusive club. It’ll get you in the door, but that’s about it. It is the low man on the totem pole, and in this world of elitist snobbery, many enjoy looking down on that. But you know what? If we can cast aside the country club mentality for a minute, the California T was, in many ways, the best real-world package Ferrari made. And now that it’s being replaced by the Portofino, the California T is one of the best value grand touring cars you can buy.

Ford GT at the Philadelphia Auto Show

Ford GT Philly 3

The new Ford GT is a striking automobile. There’s no way to downplay the effect its design has on your senses. It’s beautiful and a spaceship at the same time, and it has taken supercar design to the next level.

We got to check this one out at the Philly Auto Show. Enjoy!

Evo Shows Us Around the McLaren Senna

The details of the McLaren Senna are immense. This may be the most track-focused version of a supercar to-date… to the point where the car is actually illegal for road use in Race Mode.

It’s a badass car for badass people who live badass lives. People who will walk out of Starbucks with a big straw in a small iced latte, J-walk to their car across the street, and drive off in Race Mode right in front of a cop. Hell yeah, unlike airflow, society can’t hold this thing down!

Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS at the Philadelphia Auto Show

Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS Philly 1

The current “King of the Ring,” the new Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS is an incredible machine to behold up close. It’s so focused on speed that it’s damn near a racecar, but being a road car, all of its functional fine details have to be well-finished. All of the air vents are finished with beautiful carbon fiber and the single piece center-lock wheels are quite elegant in addition to being functionally lightweight. As an object, the GT2 RS is something very special.

I also took a look under the rear bumper at the exhaust system, and DAMN! It’s a valved Porsche Sport Exhaust like the optional system on lesser 911s, but in the GT2 RS the butterfly valve is basically just a straight dump hole out the rear of the catalyst assembly. That means the exhaust sound will be about as rowdy as can be when the valve is open, and it will only get channeled through the muffler when the valve is closed. In short, your neighbors may hate you.

But everyone at Cars and Coffee will love you, so I guess it evens out. It was a thrill to see this thing in person for the first time. Enjoy the gallery!

Highlights From the Philly Auto Show

Bugattis in Philly

We visited the Philadelphia Auto Show this weekend and there were lot’s of sights to be seen. The exotics displays were as good as they’ve ever been, largely thanks to CF Charities and their friends. The hypercar game was strong, with two Bugattis and 3 very unique American offerings from SSC, Mosler and Saleen, among others. It was insane.

The rest of the show was top-notch too, with many of the latest and greatest offerings were on display. We also got to take a quick spin in the new KIA Stinger GT, and the car made a great first impression.

Enjoy the photos, some are mine and some are courtesy of my friend and co-worker Sam Chun. These are some highlights with plenty more to come.

I’ve finished my LEGO Ferrari F40

Lego Ferrari F40 12

This is one of those gifts I had wanted, but couldn’t justify buying for myself as a young professional trying to spend money on ‘real’ things. My girlfriend, Gab, knew I wanted the LEGO Ferrari F40, though, and her Mom went over and above for my birthday and surprised me with it. Needless to say, I was quite surprised, and I got excited like I did back when I was a kid. I thought it was clothes because the box was a similar shape, but it was a LEGO Ferrari. SO AWESOME!

It took me a week or two to put it together, and I was astounded by LEGO’s attention to detail. I have a diecast model of an F40 to compare, and they really did account for everything.

Once finished, I figured I’d take some decent photos of it, like I would a real car. Enjoy!

Spyker C8 LaViolette at Misselwood

Spyker C8 LaViolette Misslewood 7

Spykers are beautifully crafted machines, as much works of art as they are sports cars. There are so many fine details to take in, and they all add up to a striking whole that will make a Ferrari or Lamborghini seem so mass-market.

This Spyker C8 LaViolette was a centerpiece at the Misselwood Concours this year. People adored it, whether they knew what it was or not.

Enjoy the gallery!

Blue Lamborghini Murcielago Spotted in the Car Corral at Radnor Hunt

Blue Lamborghini Murcielago Radnor

Happy 2018 Everyone!

This Murci wears my favorite Lamborghini blue. It also sounds absolutely insane with it’s straight pipe exhaust. You can hear it in the compilation video below…
