Motor Trend Tests a Very Blue Ferrari 488 Spider

The Ferrari 488 is a drool-worthy machine, and the Spider turns it up to eleven.

Lamborghini Murcielago 40th Anniversary Edition in Carmel, CA

Lamborghini Murcielago 40th Anniversary 1

This 40th Anniversary Murcielago was out and about during Monterey Car Week. I love funky colors on Lamborghinis, but particularly love the teal of the 40th Anniversary Edition because it not shamelessly bright.

Also, this was back before E-Gear took over, so this Lambo has three pedals. Win!

Top Gear Reviews the Porsche 911 R

I never get tired of the 911 R. It represents everything I hold dear in a car.

Feast Your Ears on this Pagani Zonda Compilation by Marchettino

People often ask me what my favorite car is, and my answer is always the Pagani Zonda. I have a great love for many different cars out there, but none make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end quite like the Zonda.

Just listen to the sound of these Mercedes V12 engines. Is there a better sounding car out there?

Jay Leno gets his hands on a Ferrari F40

The F40 is the ultimate Ferrari hypercar, and if you disagree with that, you’re wrong. It turned turbo-lag into an art form, and it breathes fire in a way that a LaFerrari can only manage when it actually catches on fire.

Sure there are faster cars now, but there will always be faster and faster cars out there. The key is being one that is remembered, and the F40 will always be the first road car to top 200mph.

Let’s see what Jay thinks when he gets to live the legend…

What does $100k in options look like on a modern Ferrari?

It’s going to be Ferrari Tuesday today.

First up, Rob Ferretti shows us what $100,000 in options looks like on his 488 Spider. Just think of the collection of cars you could have for that much. Damn. (The 488 is so nasty, though).

Ferrari F12 TDF at CF Charities

Ferrari F12 TDF CF Charities 1

We saw Ferrari’s ultimate front-engined V12 supercar, the F12 TDF, at the CF Charities Supercar Show. One of just 799 built, Ferrari took their plush F12 grand tourer and turned it into a batshit crazy race car for the road, complete with a 780hp naturally aspirated V12. Let us cherish this moment because this sort of engine may not be long for this world.

Enjoy the rest of the photos and check out Chris Harris’ Top Gear Review of the F12 TDF below, so you can hear it’s fury for yourself.

Red Carbon Pagani Huayra at Greenwich

Red Carbon Pagani Huayra 2

Paganis are majestic machines. The embodiment of the spearhead in modern automotive art, Paganis turn cutting-edge science into a rich experience that people are willing to pay millions to have in their lives.

It’s all in the details, and the way every little peice adds up to make such a spectacular whole. Very few seven-figure cars are able to justify their price tag as obviously as the Pagani Huayra. Everything about it just feels so special, and when you sit inside the cabin, you wouldn’t feel like $2-ish million had gone to waste.

This red carbon Huayra we saw at Greenwich this year had that extra added touch of style. I’ve seen other cars with colored carbon, but the deep red finish over this Huayra’s carbon body was classy beyond belief. It stands in stark contrast to the run-of-the-mill bright orang or green Lamborghini. This carbon red Huayra doesn’t come off as obnoxious like that at all. In fact, when I was first looking at it, it was difficult to find words to describe it. I just knew I was totally blown away.

Enjoy the photos!

The Five Hyper Ferraris On One Track – Jay Leno’s Garage

It’s quite an occasion having all five Ferrari hypercars together, especially on the race track. We’ve actually seen Mr. Lee’s cars at the Quail a few times, and he’s a real nice guy.

Rezvani Beast X Performance at Amelia Island

Rezvani Beast X Performance Amelia Island 1

This is a Rezvani Beast. It starts life as an Ariel Atom, but gets a total overhaul from Rezvani, built exactly to the buyer’s taste. While I love the raw appeal of the Ariel Atom, I find the Rezvani a lot sexier with its shaped exotic bodywork. Sure those good looks come at the price of an extra 300lbs or so, but Rezvani also more than doubles the horsepower of the basic Atom 3 using a supercharger. That’s 500hp in a car weighing only 1,600lbs, people…

It’s pretty impressive, but it had better be considering, at $160,000, Rezvani has also more than doubled the price of the standard Ariel Atom.

See the Beast in action on Jay Leno’s Garage:

Porsche 993 GT2 on US soil at Lime Rock

Porsche 993 GT2 Lime Rock 1

Happy Halloween everyone!

Yes, this is a real Porsche 993 GT2. It’s here in America, and its registered in Montana, the land of the supercars… or at least it would seem that way with all the Montana plates on all sorts of crazy cars. #Loophole

This 993 GT2 came here from Japan and now resides in New England, I believe. The owner said he had driven it to the show that day.

This is really the first 993 GT2 I’ve seen up close in person. I say “really” because I did catch a glimpse of the stunning blue 993 GT2 that recently sold at auction for $2.4M in the garage at the Porsche museum in Stuttgart. However, it was under a cover, and I wasn’t going to try and pull it off.

Obviously the 993 GT2 is one of those holy grail 911s fit for only the wettest of dreams. One of only 57 road-going 993 GT2’s made, it comes from a time when cars were lighter and much simpler, when 430 turbocharged horsepower in a rear engine / rear wheel drive package meant daddy might not be home for supper.

I’m happy to be able to check another one off my list! Now if I can finally manage to track down a Bugatti EB-110…
