A very wet Lamborghini Miura at the Greenwich Concours

Wet Lamborghini Miura Greenwich 3

It rained like hell at on the 2nd day of the Greenwich Concours this year. We spent most of our time enjoying wine tasting, eating our fill of as many (free) lobster sandwiches as we could stomach. When the rain did die down, we got photos of the cars, most of which are seldom photographed when soaking wet.

Here are some wet shots of this black Lamborghini Miura. You won’t see one shown like this in the RM Auctions catalog, that’s for sure.

Enjoy!

Jay Leno drives one of my favorite Ferraris

Jay isn’t too much of a Ferrari guy. He always says he likes them, but always feels like he can get something he’ll like better for less money. The classic Ferrari 275 GTB/4 is hard for any gearhead to resist, though.

Enjoy

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione at the Amelia Island FOS

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Amelia Island FOS 1

The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars we’ve been blessed with this century thus far. I mean, just look at it. The quintessential essence of the Italian Sports car, this 8C was deep red with a body of sleek curvaceous sexiness.

Many people tend to think right to Ferrari, but remember, Alfa Romeo is the real “Original Gangsta” of Italian sports cars. Enzo Ferrari raced Alfas himself, and his race team, Scuderia Ferrari, saw legendary success with Alfas before they were able to build their own cars after the War. Alfa Romeo was where so much of what we hold dear about Italian cars now all started, and the 8C Competizione marked the return of greatness to the brand. Greatness Alfa continues to push for today with the 4C and the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Feast your eyes!

Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 Spotted on Amelia Island

Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 Amelia Island 1

This gorgeous gem was waiting for us in one of the event parking areas on Amelia Island. Burgundy might just be the best color on a Lamborghini 400GT 2+2, and it would’ve surely fit in just fine in the show itself.

Enjoy the photos!

Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

A stunning example among the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas that were featured at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. I was looking back through my photos, and it managed to catch my eye. Surely one of a number of gems we have yet to post from our past endeavors. Much more where this came from.

Enjoy!

A very blue Pagani Huayra at the CF Charities Supercar Show

Pagani Huayra CF Charities 2016

Paganis are always a sight to be seen, and luckily for us, there are more to be seen in America now than ever!

1954 Cadillac 2-Door Convertible by Pinin Farina at Hershey

1954 Cadillac 2-Door Convertible by Pinin Farina 1

This one-off Cadillac was built by Pinin Farina for Norman Granz, founder of Verve Records. Granz admired the Italian designs of the day, and wanted such a car for himself, so he had Pinin Farina work their magic on his Cadillac Series 62. The result was this distinctly Italian masterpiece that surely turned many-a-head around Hollywood.

Ferrari 550 Barchetta at the CF Charities Supercar Show

Ferrari 550 Barchetta at CF Charities

A bright sunny day and a red Ferrari roadster, it’s the stuff dreams are made of. The 550 Barchetta is quite a hot item right now, along with most stick-shift Ferraris at this point. Barchettas are very rare too, with just 448 of them built, so it’s always awesome to see one in person.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona spotted in Greenwich, CT

Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona Greenwich CT

It had just rained, and the air was quite humid. It gave us a great look at the breath from that V12. That darker red is a gorgeous color too. The Daytona remains one of the most iconic Ferraris of all time, and it’s easy to see why.

Car Magazine Pits the Ferrari 488 GTB against the McLaren 570S and Audi R8 V10 Plus

The Ferrari 488 GTB is one of the supercars to beat at the moment, taking everything awesome about the 458 and turbocharging it (quite literally). The question is, is it worth the price premium you pay over more “entry-level” supercars? (I really don’t feel right about saying it that way)

I mean, let’s face it, a Ferrari 488 GTB is going to run you over $300,000 when options and dealer premiums are added. Meanwhile you can have the McLaren 570S and Audi R8 V10 Plus, and keep around $100 grand in your pocket. Maybe buy something cheap, like an Audi A8, as a daily driver.

Is the 488 really worth it in context?

1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Pininfarina Speciale at Amelia Island

1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Pininfarina Speciale 2

It’s 1946, and in the wake of the catastrophic Second World War, France had spitefully banned cars from former Axis countries from the Salon de l’Automobile. However, Battista “Pinin” Farina, founder of Pininfarna, had worked too hard preparing his 1942 chassis for the 1946 show to miss it. He went to Paris in this Alfa, and he parked it right in front of the show for all to see. I’d imagine it drew more than a little attention.

Seventy years later, Mr. Farina’s bespoke Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 dropped my jaw at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. It’s the detail work that really sets it apart. I mean, just look at that interior, or the chrome portholes on the side, or that steering wheel, my God!

This Alfa is awesome, a spectacular car with a great story. Enjoy the gallery.

Motor Trend pits the new Audi TT-S against the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

In this unlikely, but actually relevant, comparison, we see German logic go up against raw Italian emotion. I’ve driven the Alfa 4C, and it still has my heart. That’s all I’ll say…
