Lamborghini Aventador 50th Anniversary Edition spotted in Carmel Valley, CA

Lamboghini Aventador 50th Anniversary Edition

We found this epic Lamborghini Aventador 50th Anniversary Edition parked at the Quail Lodge, where Lamborghini was setting up their drive event. I hadn’t seen a 50th Anniversary Aventador until this one, and I must say it seems turned up to eleven!

What would you buy for the price of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster? Well, this is what Al thinks of that.

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Price Game

Nick’s gotten his posts up, so I’m going to show you what I think. Four and a half million dollars. I”m going to say that again. FOUR AND A HALF MILLION DOLLARS. I can’t even imagine that amount of cash fitting in a standard sized suitcase. The Veneno’s nice and all, and it is a tantalizing machine…but I can’t justify that price. It’s got the Aventador’s engine and a body kit (I know I’m oversimplifying things here). That’s enough for a house and a good number of very nice cars. However, this is about just cars, and the 24 cars listed below will do the trick perfectly for me. There’s a lot of overlap and a few of these cars are probably better off as trailer queens, but I plan on driving what I picked, whether it be to the grocery store, the track, or to work. There’s 24 cars here, and I’ve got a reason for choosing each of them. Here we go! Continue reading What would you buy for the price of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster? What would you buy for the price of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster?

Lamborghini Veneno Roadster Price Game

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is a spectacular machine to be sure. In addition to the fact that it looks like a space-fighter only 9 examples will ever be made, making it one of the most exotic cars on the planet. I guess that’s why Lamborghini wants a hefty $4.5 Million to snag one of these bad boys.

But is it really worth that kind of money? I mean, if we’re totally honest here, the Veneno Roadster is really just a slightly upgraded Aventador Roadster underneath. It doesn’t have a ton of fancy technology or an obscene amount of horsepower like many of today’s hypercars that cost only a fraction of the $4.5 Million. I mean an Aventador Roadster costs less than $600,000, even if you load it up with all the  crap, so what you’re spending the extra $3.9 Million on is just a body kit… an epic, change your trousers sort of body kit, but a body kit nonetheless.

That got us thinking of a question: For $4.5 Million dollars, would you have the Veneno Roadster? Or would you have other things that add up to that amount? And if you’d choose to forgo the Veneno, just what could be had for the same amount of money?

Exotic Supercars of the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance

Pagani Huayra at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance

Here are the exotic cars from the 2014 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. There was quite a spectacular display of some very rare supercars and hypercars on display this year, everything from the $1.9 million Pagani Huayra you see above, to a Ferrari Enzo, to the world-speed-record-setting Hennessey Venom GT, to Jim Glickenhaus’ P4/5 Competizione. It was surely a sight to be seen.

The Pagani Huayra really stood out, though. It spent both days of the show tucked away in the corner of Miller Motorcars’ display tent, but it was completely swamped with people the entire time. When it left the field, people literally lost their minds, jumping around in a reckless frenzy to try and snag the perfect shot of it.

Is easy to see why people go completely nuts over the Huayra when after a decade of grueling depravation for American car enthusiasts, it is the first Pagani to finally make it stateside. But the Huayra is also an exceptionally magnificent object, even by seven-figure supercar standards. Every aspect of the car seems so “full,” right down to the finest detail — nothing has been overlooked or under-thought.

Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 at Hopewell Cruise Night

Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 in Hopewell, NJ

We caught this vibrant orange Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 at the recent cruise night in Hopewell, NJ. The 6.0 was the last hurrah for the Diablo, and the first refinement of a Lamborghini model by Audi. Its V12 produced a robust 550hp, before the era where horsepower figures went nuts, and as the license plate says, it could scrape the 207mph mark flat-out.

This Diablo was kind of the show for a short time, until the Saleen S7 showed up and stole its thunder. It’s always great to see any of the crazy V12 Lambos with the scissor doors, though. The theatre of the original Countach lives on with an un-dulled effect to this very day. Enjoy the photos.

Ladies and Lamborghinis in Clinton, NJ

Lamborghini Murcielago supercar

This event was a bit of a last minute thing for us. I was beginning to feel the 2 o’clock drowsiness in the office when I got a text from  Al informing me of an event called Ladies and Lamborghinis going on that night in Clinton, NJ. It was like a shot of espresso for me, and I couldn’t wait to get up there for the festivities.

This was the inaugural  Ladies and Lamborghinis event, and it was basically similar to other cruise night events hosted by towns that we’ve been to. Ironically, only one Lamborghini showed up — they should’ve called it Foxes and Ferraris instead.

There was a very nice crop of cars, though, including a very enticing classic Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and two Porsche 911 RS models. For an inaugural event, it was quite good, so hopefully they will get the word out more next time and build the attendance rate further because Clinton, NJ is a great venue.

Until then, enjoy our photo gallery from Ladies an Lamborghinis!

Lamborghini Huracán at Amelia Island

Lamborghini Huracan at Amelia Island

Lamborghini only replaces each of its models about every ten years or so. Back in 2011, we were introduced to the Aventador, the V12 replacement for the flagship Murciélago. Now, here in 2014, Lamborghini has finally decided to replace their “baby” supercar model, the Gallardo. Meet the new Lamborghini Huracán, a V10-powered “baby Lambo” with large fangs and a major teething problem.

The world has gone crazy during the Gallardo’s tenure. Back in 2004, when the Gallardo first came out, the Ferrari 360 was still the supercar standard of the day with a respectable 400hp. The Gallardo upped the ante to 500hp, which seemed insane at the time. Now, in 2014, the Huracán brings 600hp to the table, more than the original Murcielago, but it only manages to sit in the middle of the current supercar pack. This may be a 200mph supercar, but in terms of horsepower alone, it’s a B student at best.

Bucks County Exotics Meet 5/2/2014

Rossion Q1 at Bucks County Exotics
This Rossion Q1 and Ferrari 458 Spider were just the tip of the iceberg of awesome cars at the meet.

We were in attendance for the Bucks County Exotics meet last Saturday morning. I had a bit of an unexpected late night the previous evening, so it took everything I could muster to climb out of bed and drive over to Doylestown, PA for the meet. It is a cars and coffee style event, and many great cars show up each time, everything from hot rods to classics to supercars. Bucks County is a great area to enjoy driving fun cars, with lots of winding back roads cutting through the woods, and lots of scenic destinations to visit. It also happens to be a pretty affluent area, so everything seems to add up nicely to make an event like the Bucks County Exotics car meet possible.

Enjoy the photos and captions!
