Awesome Burnouts and Accelerations at the CF Charities Supercar Show!

Here is some fun stuff from the CF Charities Supercar Show last year. Naturally, when you hold a car meet on an open airstrip, some shenanigans are going to take place… in fact, the more, the better!

It was a motley crew of cars at the show, everything from everyday tuner cars to a mighty Bugatti Veyron and a straight-piped Porsche Carrera GT.

If you love hearing some engines being thrashed, and you love some tire smoke, then you’ll be glad you gave this video a watch!

Motor Trend gets their hands on the ATS-V–and does naughty things.

The bad Cadillac of old is officially dead–no more garbage luxury cars that aren’t luxurious nor prestigious. But we need not shed a tear. The new Cadillac produces cars that Americans want–stuff that handles properly, looks fantastic, and is priced fitting of a luxury automobile.  Carlos Lago has the keys to a white ATS-V Coupe, which will be coming soon to a showroom near you. After reading some early first drives of the new member to the Cadillac V family, I think we’re going to welcome this family member with open arms. So go ahead, you’ve got twelve minutes to watch this video. You’ll be glad you did.  Just listen to that twin-turbo V6–it has a lot of nice things to say about life.

Our Highlights From the 2015 New York International Auto Show

We went to the 2015 New York International Auto Show this past weekend to get up close with all of the cars we’ve been hearing so much about and commenting on in the last few months.  NYIAS is always a fantastic time, but this year was the best it has been in 10 years. The show is a bit of a tradition for us to do with our friends, and this year we chose to forgo the press days so we could go with the group. I’ll admit up front that we didn’t get to everything that was at the show, but we had a blast with everyone. Here are our highlights and opinions on the cars we saw.

Screw Every Porsche 911, I Want The Boxster Spyder Instead!

A few weeks ago, Porsche dropped the awesome Cayman GT4. Well, now there’s one without a roof, the Boxster Spyder that weighs just 2900lbs. With a “detuned” (probably not really) version of the same 3.8L flat six, Porsche says the Boxster Spyder has at least 375hp. It also only comes with three pedals, and a little stick between the seats that is used to shift gears. Thank God!

So really this is the ultimate Porsche driving experience currently on sale, in my opinion. It does what the Cayman GT4 does, but it also let’s you enjoy the wind in your hair. I’m completely sold. Forget the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, I’d rather have this any day.

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 at the Boca Raton Concours

Grabber Green might be one of the best colors Ford put on the Mustang in the early Seventies–and they couldn’t sell it.  The Boss 302, a homologation special for Trans-Am racing, was a screamer of a car–the small-block V8 Ford developed was capable of winding up to 6,250RPM, quite high for the time, especially for an American V8.  A four-speed manual, special suspension, and all sorts of racing goodies rounded out the package under the skin, with plenty of trim pieces to make the package tasteful.  Unfortunately, they only sold it for two years.

In 1970, the Boss improved a bit–the new look of the ’70 model Mustang gave the Boss 302 a reskinned and more mature look.  The stripes were unchanged, and the offer of a few new colors made sure people kept on buying them.  When all was said and done, the changes did indeed pay dividends–after only selling a bit over 1500 units in 1969, Ford moved more than 7000 of these in 1970.  Unfortunately for those of us who love bright green, not many left the factory in Grabber Green–only 352 were painted that way, and according to the placard, only 111 were equipped with the manual gearbox in that color.  Therefore, this Hurst-equipped Green Monstah is a seriously rare machine.  Enjoy the photos. 2015 Cadillac CTS Vsport Review

This is effectively an incognito BMW E39 M5, only even more well-rounded. It is the Cadillac CTS Vsport, not to be confused with the CTS-V, which is Cadillac’s full-throttle, “still hard as a rock after 4 hours” experience.

The CTS Vsport is very much its own thing, not just some “Diet CTS-V” with less calories. If the CTS-V is a big honking hamburger, then the CTS Vsport is grilled salmon filet. It is an entirely different flavor from the V, so get that comparison out of your head from the get-go.

Configurator Fun: Mercedes GLA45 AMG

The Mercedes GLA45 AMG is basically the luxury rally-ish car of your dreams. That is to say it’s a small all wheel drive car with nimble handling that has a  turbocharged 4-banger which puts out entirely too much power. Yea, I know all about the CLA45 AMG, but I’d rather have this thing with the added suspension travel.

The base price of the GLA45 AMG is $48,300

Mine cost $63,350 spec’d out how I’d want it.

I saw a GLA45 in brown with the brown interior at Pebble Beach this summer, so I had to go with that. I love that you don’t usually see such a combo on an AMG.

As far as options, I got the carbon fiber aero package, but without the ricey spoiler that I hate. I also forwent the Driver Assistance Package, where the car basically drives for you, because I can drive myself, thank you very much.

I did spring for the Premium Package and the AMG Driver’s Package for the nice features they include, as well as the Panorama Sunroof.

Chris Harris Makes Us Want A Porsche Cayman GT4 Even More

I said in a post last week that I’d rather have the new Porsche Cayman GT4 over either a Porsche 911 GT3 or GT3 RS, solely because of it’s manual gearbox. Well, this week, Chris Harris has gotten his hands on a Porsche Cayman GT4 and he has confirmed its awesomeness. That said, he did mention that he wouldn’t sell a 911 GT3 to have a Cayman GT4. I’ll be curious to see what he says about the new GT3 RS, and then what he says in a few years time about the Cayman GT4.

The new Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS officially dropped at the Geneva Motor Show this week after much anticipation. As you might expect, many in the automotive journalism world sound 100% excited about this new “raw” 911. I am not someone who merely reports the figures, though, anyone can do that.
