The Other Purple Lamborghini at Concorso Ferrari

IMG_3851

Lamborghinis really should be purple. We featured the purple Diablo at Concorso Ferrari a few weeks back, and now we bring you the other purple Lambo at the show, this Huracan LP580-2.

It has a screaming V10 engine with 572hp to propel it’s relatively scant 3,062 lb mass, and with power sent only to the rear wheels it’s an extra handful over its AWD sibling. All that, and it’s dressed in a bright purple middle finger to everything mainstream society holds dear. I can’t get enough of this thing!

A very rare manual Ferrari 575M in Verde Zeltweg at Concorso Ferrari

IMG_3745

This extremely rare example of a Ferrari 575M was one of my highlights from Concorso Ferrari this year. Dressed in Verde Zeltweg (dark green) over a rich tan interior it is a very unconventional spec for a Ferrari. It also happens to have a stick shift instead of flappy paddles, a major win as things have turned out in terms of value.

I’m a huge fan of uncommon color combinations on Ferraris, especially on the front engine GT cars. The classier, more understated look suits the continent-crossers very well, and the richness of this 575M’s specification was incredible.

This is pretty close to ideal. Enjoy.

Blue Carbon Bugatti Chiron at the Greenwich Concours

IMG_3238

The Bugatti Chiron is a beautiful machine, and this blue carbon over red leather example is up there with the best of them. Every time I see a Chiron, I’m always amazed how much they were able to improve on the Veyron in terms of the fine detail work throughout the car. The Chiron is truly a work of art in addition to being (probably) the fastest production car on the planet.

Enjoy!

1934 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Figoni Cabriolet at Amelia Island

IMG_0329

Styled by the famed Figoni design house in Paris, this beautiful Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 had to be hidden from the Nazis during the war. And aren’t we so glad it was saved so that it could win best in class this year at Amelia Island?!

More details below. Enjoy the gallery!

Modified Audi RS 6 at Cars and Caffe

IMG_2330

I’ve always loved the RS 6 and this one has been modified very cleanly. It was a nice sight at Cars and Caffe, standing out in the sea of exotics.

Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster: The Devil Wears Purple

IMG_3723

There are only 4 purple Diablo VT Roadsters on this planet, and that’s a bit of a shame because Lamborghinis should be purple. For me, purple is the most wonderfully vulgar color on a sports car, something about it traditionally being a “girly color,” it’s just a big middle finger to everything that is conventional. It’s a cool color, the coolest on the scale, in fact, but somehow it looks so hot, right up there with fire orange.

I couldn’t get enough of this thing at Concorso Ferrari. It’s such a rare sight that it was worth drooling over for quite a while. The owner was very cool too.

Enjoy the gallery of this flying purple people eater!

Ferrari 512M at Concorso Ferrari & Friends

IMG_3879

The ultimate form of the Ferrari Testarossa, the 512M. I love this car but I’ve always thought it looked like a Testarossa had a love child with a 550 Maranello. See what I mean?

Highlights from Concorso Ferrari & Friend

IMG_4031

The man himself, Horacio Pagani was in attendance for this year’s Concorso Ferrari & Friends. You can see him in the photo above, pulling off in a beautiful Huayra Roadster. It was unreal!

We made the 3 hour drive up to West Hartford because the buzz around this show was insane. Mr. Pagani’s attendance heralded the presence of most of the Pagani automobiles currently in the Northeastern USA. There were eight Pagani Huayras at this show, making this the largest assembly of Paganis I’ve laid eyes on since I visited their factory back in 2004.

There were also a ton of other incredible machines there, and the kids looked absolutely thrilled when they were riding in the cars (the big spectacle of the day).

Enjoy the highlights. There’s much more to come!

The Classic Fiat 600 of My Dreams at the Greenwich Concours

IMG_3175

This immaculate 1959 Fiat 600 really caught my eye at the Greenwich Concours this year. It was funky like a Fiat should be, and the detail work, both inside and out, was fantastic. This is the flavor that every Italian car should have!

Enjoy the gallery.

Lancia Delta HF Integrale at the December Bergen County Cars and Coffee

Lancia Delta HF Integrale FRONT

Sometimes, a little bit of Lancia is all you need to brighten your day. In this case, a Delta Integrale, possibly the most streetable rally special Lancia ever built, delivered the goods. Continue reading Lancia Delta HF Integrale at the December Bergen County Cars and Coffee

1973 Buick Century Grand Sport Stage 1 at the 2018 Greenwich Concours

1973 Buick Century Front 2

Sometimes, people forget that Detroit did have a few performance oriented cars on the market after the muscle car era came to a close and before the Malaise era went full 8-ball and full Disco Inferno. This burnt orange Colonnade Century hardtop coupe was quite a looker, and had a window sticker that displayed a truly chock-full list of options, including a 455 big block V8, four-speed manual, power everything, a tilt and telescoping wheel, and raised white letter tires. This is a prime example of what Americans could still get their hands on if they read the options list carefully–instead of ending up with a dowdy little Vega or underpowered Malibu (like my dad had in the Eighties). Enjoy the photos. Continue reading 1973 Buick Century Grand Sport Stage 1 at the 2018 Greenwich Concours
