I do have a weakness for pre-war French cars. These were the chariots of the bourgeoisie, with their fantastic art deco style, artisan coachwork, and superior technology.

This Voisin C20 Simoun Underslung was the top sport model of the Voisin V-12 range. It commanded a hefty premium even over a comparable Bugatti of the day. Only 30 Voisin C20 chassis were originally built, and this one is supposedly the only survivor.

This may be the most bougie thing I’ve ever seen

They’re asking a quarter of a billion dollars for this house in Bel Air that comes stacked with more fancy shit than you’d ever know what to do with. It even comes complete with a helicopter on the roof, and a collection of rare classic and exotic cars, including one of those special edition Bugatti Veyrons, a Pagani Huayra, and, I believe, a pre-war Mercedes 540K.

It’s a total orgy of materialism, and it looks incredible. That said, I feel like after the realtor handed over the keys and left, I’d just be standing there like, “Okay, now that I have everything I ever wanted, now what?”

Prepare to want a Jaguar D-Type quite badly

The folks at Petrolicious never fail to arose the agony of desire in my soul. I would commit any number of crimes just to be able to drive a Jaguar D-Type for 15 minutes, but the owner of this car has driven it over 20,000 miles. I can only imagine what that has been like!

Classic Toyota FJ40 Spotted at Amelia Island

That time Toyota made a better jeep than Jeep. These old FJs are highly sought after now, which means many people take the trouble to restore them to immaculate condition. We caught this green one at the Ritz on Amelia Island.

I really love the style of the old FJs, and between these, the Land Cruiser, and their trucks, Toyota has quite a history of making legendary off-roaders. I was a fan of the newer FJ Cruiser, from a few years back, too. Honestly, I think Toyota should make FJ into a sub-brand and take on Jeep head-on. Unfortunately, they seem too hell-bent on being bland to take such a bold step at this point.

What a color combo on this 1973 Porsche 911E! Plum purple over a black and tan interior, and with a child seat to boot. I love any car with a beautiful offbeat color scheme, and this is one of the prettiest old 911s I’ve ever seen.

The Fiat Dino is one of my favorite classic Italian roadsters. It’s got Italian style, with a friendly Fiat badge on its hood, and a Ferrari engine underneath where it counts.

To say I want one is an understatement, and it’s always lovely seeing them in person at events.

1939, we all know what was happening in Europe at that time, but on the brink of the second World War, this Delage was competing in the last races before the onset of mass destruction.

It was the end of an era for the automobile, and after the war things would be faster, but they sure wouldn’t look as good. I mean look at the swooping fenders on this thing, it was as much about style as it was about speed. Pre-war era racing was a unique time in automotive history, one that will never be equalled in many respects. Racing had a lot more charm back then, it was more dangerous for it, but that also added to the appeal.
