Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster: The Devil Wears Purple

IMG_3723

There are only 4 purple Diablo VT Roadsters on this planet, and that’s a bit of a shame because Lamborghinis should be purple. For me, purple is the most wonderfully vulgar color on a sports car, something about it traditionally being a “girly color,” it’s just a big middle finger to everything that is conventional. It’s a cool color, the coolest on the scale, in fact, but somehow it looks so hot, right up there with fire orange.

I couldn’t get enough of this thing at Concorso Ferrari. It’s such a rare sight that it was worth drooling over for quite a while. The owner was very cool too.

Enjoy the gallery of this flying purple people eater!

Highlights from Concorso Ferrari & Friend

IMG_4031

The man himself, Horacio Pagani was in attendance for this year’s Concorso Ferrari & Friends. You can see him in the photo above, pulling off in a beautiful Huayra Roadster. It was unreal!

We made the 3 hour drive up to West Hartford because the buzz around this show was insane. Mr. Pagani’s attendance heralded the presence of most of the Pagani automobiles currently in the Northeastern USA. There were eight Pagani Huayras at this show, making this the largest assembly of Paganis I’ve laid eyes on since I visited their factory back in 2004.

There were also a ton of other incredible machines there, and the kids looked absolutely thrilled when they were riding in the cars (the big spectacle of the day).

Enjoy the highlights. There’s much more to come!

Highlights from the 2018 Cars and Caffe Season Opener

Here are some highlights from the Cars and Caffe Season Opener. It’s a little late because I came down with a really nasty flu right after the show, so I’m playing a bit of catch up.

Enjoy this taste of much more to come from this phenomenal event. If you live in the northeastern US, it’s really worth the trip.

Witness the brown-est Lamborghini Diablo on Earth

Brown Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 Amelia RM 7

Lamborghinis are usually seen in Skittles colors, but this Diablo VT 6.0 SE is pure chocolate. It has a stunning spec with a “Sunset Brown” exterior and a brown leather and carbon fiber interior.

It sold for $412,000 at the RM Auction at Amelia Island this year, delivered as new because it only had 14 miles on the clock.

Enjoy the gallery of this stunning brown bull!

Blue Lamborghini Murcielago Spotted in the Car Corral at Radnor Hunt

Blue Lamborghini Murcielago Radnor

Happy 2018 Everyone!

This Murci wears my favorite Lamborghini blue. It also sounds absolutely insane with it’s straight pipe exhaust. You can hear it in the compilation video below…

The Lamborghini Urus is pretty bitchin’ in the right spec

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I know I said I was iffy on the new Lamborghini Urus, and I still maintain it’s an Audi in Lamborghini clothes. That said, these are some pretty sweet clothes Lamborghini has fitted to this corporate SUV platform. I’ve been playing around with the Urus configurator, and I’m pretty stoked about the spec you see here. I think the metallic brown paint in contrast with the bright green accents and interior gives the Urus a badass off-roader, yet distinctively Lamborghini, look.

Digesting the Lamborghini Urus, I just can’t shake this bad aftertaste

lamborghini-urus-2019-1280-02

I love the idea of a Lamborghini SUV, and I’m a HUGE fan of the LM002 because it was a different type of Lambo, but it was unmistakably a Lambo. I mean it was an Italian Humvee with the V12 engine from a top-tier supercar, what’s not to love about that?

But as I look at the new Lamborghini Urus, I’m really struggling to see where it’s actually a Lamborghini. I mean, the Urus is effectively an Audi Q7 with an RS 7 drivetrain, and some more angular bodywork. It’s very clearly a parts bin car, and I really don’t think that suits the Lamborghini brand at all.

Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition at Driven by Purpose

Lamborghini Countach 25th Driven by Purpose 1

This has to be the most pristine Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition I’ve ever seen in person. It had just 2,000 miles on it, and was brought in on the back of a truck. I normally roll my eyes when people don’t drive their cars to shows, but given that this has become a classic, and has such low mileage, I give it a pass.

This Lambo looks great with NYC. Enjoy the pics!

Some Highlights from Cars and Caffe at Garden State Plaza

Porsche Carrera GTs at Garden State Plaza

Cars and Caffe at Garden State Plaza was incredible yesterday. I hadn’t been before, and I didn’t really expect it to be quite as big an event as it was. There were thousands of people, and hundreds of cars, many of which were top-tier hypercars. The Holy Trinity was in attendance, as well as 2 Paganis, 4 or 5 Carrera GTs, an F50, Ben Chen’s Panda Bugatti, and Team Salamone’s incredible Avantador SV. Also of note, I finally got to see my first Callaway C12 Corvette in person, after having the AutoArt model on my shelf for years.

There were some great sights and sounds throughout the day, and I was blown away with the turnout. It’s kind of crazy to see people rolling up in a cars like a Ferrari 488 and barely being noticed. The rest of the parking lot was a sea of Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis, and Porsches. I will definitely plan on attending the events next year, and I urge everyone in the Tri-State Area to do the same.

Enjoy these highlights. There’s a lot more to come!
