Lancia 037 at a rainy Greenwich Concours

Lancia 037 Greenwich Concours 1

It absolutely poured for much of the second day at this year’s Greenwich Concours, but the show field was still pretty decent. As the skies were leaking, we passed the time stuffing our faces with delicious and complementary lobster sandwiches, while also taking royal advantage of the wine tasting tent.

When the rain let up we we were able to get our photos of the cars dripping wet. This Lancia 037 is the homologated road version of the legendary Lancia rally car, and it immediately caught our eye when we first walked into the show.

Enjoy the gallery of this trail-rated Italian Stallion!

1955 Ferrari 375 Plus Cabriolet at the 2016 Elegance at Hershey

Ferrari 375 Plus Cabriolet Front 1

Ferrari ownership and postwar royalty seem to go hand-in-hand, especially one offs. This 1955 375 Plus Cabriolet is a one-off specialty car built for the ex-King Leopold III of Belgium, and is a mix of the older engineering that put Ferrari on the map in the early Fifties and newer styling features that would later become staples of the 250 and 275 lines throughout the late Fifties and into the mid Sixties. The one, and only, Chevrolet Corvette Rondine at the Greenwich Concours

Corvette Rondine Greenwich Concours 2016

We’ve managed to cross paths with the Corvette Rondine a few times now, but it’s always worth a mention. An elegant integration of Italian style and American power, the Rondine is the only one of its kind.

I believe the car actually resides in the Greenwich area, which would explain why we caught it on the road a few years back.

Always a pleasure to lay eyes on.

Team Salamone’s Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster at CF Charities

Team Salamone Lamborghini Aventador SV 2

We caught the current Team Salamone bull at the CF Charities Supercar Show, a Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster with a chrome finish.

It takes flash to a whole new level!

Purple Pierce Arrow at the Hershey Elegance

Purple Pierce Arrow Hershey 4

Out on the show field at Hershey, this deep purple 1919 Pierce Arrow seemed to come from its own planet. Almost blue, but clearly purple in person, it was a crowd favorite at the show this year.

Its wooden wheel spokes and white tires only added to its striking appearance. This is the sort of car I go to Concours events to see, something old and crazy that will absolutely blow my mind. This Pierce did not disappoint!

Enjoy the gallery.

1941 Buick Limited at the 2016 Hershey Concours

1941 Buick Limited Front Angle=

In the late 1930s, Buick launched their most high-end car to date, the Limited. This hulking, intimidating sedan became their flagship, and with a smooth-like-butter straight 8 under the hood, it took the rich folks in America’s money without much help. Not many were made (Cadillac apparently was upset with its cheaper sister division selling a like-sized car) and as a result, when war broke out in 1942, the Limited did not return after the war ended, until the Fifties came about. This 1941 example is finished beautifully and the chrome shined brightly against the sun-kissed sky this weekend in Hershey. I haven’t seen many prewar Buicks, and I hope this is the start of a trend as these cars really are overlooked in the collector market at this point. Enjoy the photos of this rarely-seen American classic. Continue reading 1941 Buick Limited at the 2016 Hershey Concours

White Porsche 918 Spyder at the CF Charities Supercar Show

Porsche 918 Spyder CF Charities 1

We’ve seen a bunch of Porsche 918 Spyders around, but none have been in this striking white until now. It shows off the curves of the car quite nicely and definitely adds to the car’s jaw-dropping appeal.

The 918 Spyder remains my favorite of the hybrid hypercar trio. Now, having seen it in this white, my lust for it will be that much more excruciating.

Ferrari F40 at Bonhams, Greenwich

Ferrari F40 Greenwich Bonhams

As far as I’m concerned, whoever is selling a LaFerrari or an Enzo can keep it. If I’m going to spend that kind of money on one of the super Ferraris, it’s going to be an F40. It was the ultimate Ferrari experience in its day, and it has managed to hold onto that designation in modern times.

We were pleased to catch this F40 at Bonhams auction at the Greenwich Concours. It’s always nice when you’re able to catch a tangible glimpse of such a wild dream.

Highlights from the 2016 Greenwich Concours Day 1

Greenwich Concours 16 Pink Ford T-Bird

We had a fun, but rainy, weekend at the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, especially on Sunday. Saturday was quite nice, though, and there was a spectacular array of cars on the field. This is our highlight gallery from Day 1.

Enjoy!

Elks Lodge 2016 Car Show General Gallery

1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Last year, I brought a Miata to this show, and I somehow managed to win 3rd place in the Import class (well, there were 3 of us). This year, the Lincoln may not have won anything, but my favorite car at the show won Best in Show, and the rest of the field wasn’t half-bad either. I spent the entire afternoon taking photos, talking to participants, and generally having a ball at the fact that the show was just steps away from my residence. This is the third year the show’s been running and the Elks Lodge in Piscataway does a beautiful job of getting the word out and getting some beautiful classic cars to turn up and show off their best. Enjoy the photos.

Rolls Royce Dawn at Amelia Island

Rolls Royce Dawn Amelia Island 3

It’s amazing how much a touch of turquoise can enrich the fine details of a car. This Rolls Royce Dawn would’ve been elegant, if even a little bland, were it not for its turquoise details in its finely crafted interior. It really makes the car “pop.”

It’s so swanky!

1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton at the Concours of America

1929 Duesenberg Model J Concours of America

A nice blue on different blue Duesenberg for your Wednesday! Don’t we wish America still made a car with this much class? We may be heading in the right direction, though.
