A very rare Evergreen BMW M Coupe at Radwood Philly

IMG_7235

As far as offbeat colors go, this Evergreen BMW M Coupe is up there, especially with its matching green interior. We spoke with the owner and I believe he said it was one of just 16 like it on this Earth. I’ve always loved the Clownshoe and its shooting brake design. BMW took a roadster and made it into a genuinely practical coupe with a unique design. It’s a future classic for sure on style alone, but it’s also a genuine enthusiast’s car from what I consider the end of the golden era for BMW. Values are already climbing.

Enjoy the photos.

C126 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC at Radwood Philly

IMG_6048

Yesterday, Nick shared with us a Porsche 928 with fake drugs on the armrest. Today, I’m sharing with you a Mercedes that the Porsche owner’s dealer (not a kingpin, but a dealer who makes plenty of money) would drive. I’m a sucker for the 560SEC of the Eighties, and this example is one of the straightest I’ve seen in a long time. From the turquoise paint to the Monoblock wheels (which may not be stock but certainly give this big coupe the rake it deserves) and the immaculate interior to the frameless windows, I was hooked. Enjoy the photos of this Eighties (and early Nineties) leather-lined Panzer tank. Continue reading C126 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC at Radwood Philly

Radwood Philly: And the winner of the “1980s Theme Award” goes to…

IMG_7416

If you’ve seen Scarface, you’ll know Tony Montana buys a Porsche 928 to impress his boss, Frank’s, soon-to-be-single lady.

The owner of this gold 928 decided to go all out on the 80’s theme at Radwood and leave a few suspicious white lines on the center console of his car. (That must be baking powder… right?)

Highlights from Radwood Philadelphia 2018

IMG_7000

This was the first Radwood event on the east coast, and it was surely one of my favorite events of this year. Radwood is a car-based celebration of 1980s and 90s culture and the stuff that showed up was extremely interesting. I’ll let the highlights do the rest of the talking for now. There’s much more to come. Enjoy!

A cleanly modded BMW E46 M3 at he Scarsdale Concours

IMG_6669

I love the E46 M3 and I especially love it in Laguna Seca Blue. This one was very nicely modified and it really popped against the exotics and classics at the Scarsdale Concours.

Enjoy the photos!

Aston Martin V12 Zagato at the Scarsdale Concours

IMG_6737

There is always a unicorn or two that shows up for the Scarsdale Concours. This year it included this stunning Aston Martin V12 Zagato. 1 of just 150 to grace this earth of ours this car backs up its beauty with an enthusiast recipe for the ages… a screaming V12 engine with RWD dynamics, all controlled via a manual transmission. It’s damn close to perfection.

Enjoy!

Highlights from the Scarsdale Concours

IMG_6601

We love the Scarsdale Concours because it has a much more relaxed vibe than most other Concours events and while it’s not huge in size, the cars are always top notch. This year did not disappoint. We’ll let the gallery do the rest of the talking.

Enjoy!

Chrysler VH Valiant Charger at the 2018 Sunday In The Park at Lime Rock

IMG_5116

Say hello to the Thunder from Down Under. Most people, including me, had never heard of this car. Chrysler used to sell their own homegrown cars in Oz–and this is one of the most desirable. Here we find a 1972 VH Valiant Charger, with its very own, never-seen in America Hemi-head inline six. These were potent, rare, and valuble cars in their day, and are seldom seen now. That this one is in America is an even larger oddity as it looks to be similar in size to a Dart, but is shaped like a Cricket, and has the name of an intermediate. Enjoy the photos of this “shrimp on the barbie” mini muscle car. Continue reading Chrysler VH Valiant Charger at the 2018 Sunday In The Park at Lime Rock

Dodge Demon in Plum Crazy in Liberty State Park

IMG_5585

In modern muscle car terms, I consider this perfection. The mighty Dodge Demon wearing Plum Crazy Purple. It is magnificent!

I was thrilled to see this thing at the Driven By Purpose event in Liberty State Park. The Challenger just has that classic muscle car flavor at a level that the Mustang and Camaro don’t quite match. 50 years after the hay day of the American muscle car, Chrysler is still staying true to their recipe. I love it so much!

Enjoy the gallery.

Gemballa Mirage GT at Cars and Caffe

IMG_6053

This is one of those unicorns you just don’t see. It’s a Gemballa Mirage GT, a heavily modified Porsche Carrera GT of which only 25 exist worldwide. This was my second time seeing this car, but the first time I was able to get any photos of it. It’s absolutely incredible.

Once the owner left I saw it fly by on the highway, 670hp V10 at full chat, and it sounded like a LeMans prototype. It’s awesome to see this car in a car show, but it was really unbelievable to see it screaming past normal traffic. It really made my day!

Enjoy the gallery!

Highlights from Cars and Caffe at Garden State Plaza Fall 2018

IMG_6014

I love Cars and Caffe because it draws the entire enthusiast spectrum, everything from beater Miatas to classic muscle cars to heavily modified cars to million dollar hypercars. It’s a real show of enthusiasm for the automobile, and there’s no other show quite like it.

I’m a firm believer that car people are largely the same, just at different socio-economic levels. The person in the E46 M3 would be the one in the Ferrari 488 if he had more money, and vice versa if the person in the Ferrari had less money. You can really see that when you go to a show like this.

Naturally, I tend to focus more on the exotics in my photos, despite me being the guy rolling up to the show in a Miata. Rest assured, I’d do the same with a Pagani if I had those sort of means.

Lots of people really love cars, and that becomes crystal clear when you’re at this show. There is hope yet for the enthusiast automobile!

Enjoy the gallery.

Mini Gallery of the September 2018 Caffeine and Carburetors at New Canaan, CT

IMG_5295//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

A few weeks ago I was able to make up for lost time by attending the first of two fall Caffeine and Carburetors events in New Canaan, CT. This one, held on the main drag, was not as heavily-populated as some have been in the past, but as it was my first time, I was still very happy to have come up. These are some of my favorite shots of the day and I hope to attend more of these down the road. The next one will be in October, likely late in the month, and will serve as the season finale. Enjoy the photos. Continue reading Mini Gallery of the September 2018 Caffeine and Carburetors at New Canaan, CT
