What a spectacular color!
Never underestimate how much of an effect a car’s hue can have on its appeal. The Jaguar F-Type Coupe is one of the prettiest cars on sale today, but it could still be quite forgettable in gray or beige. You won’t for get seeing one in this Ultra Blue, though, especially not this decked-out F-Type SVR.
This blue Jag stood in brilliant contrast to the bright orange Porsche 918 that stole the show at the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance this year. People were drawn to it almost as much, despite it costing nearly 1/10th of the price of the hyper Porsche.
The F-Type SVR is the king of the Jags right now, though, the pinnacle of performance in their model range. Its 575hp supercharged V8 delivers a thunderous experience for sure, but a lot of me still wishes it came in RWD instead.
It was a real treat to see this Jag, and to get some quality shots of it. It was quite a sight. Enjoy!

We attended the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance yesterday, and the turnout was great considering the iffy weather. This is a highlight reel, focusing on the details of the whole show. Look for individual galleries of many of these cars in the future. As you might imagine, the orange Porsche 918 Spyder above was the center of attention. Also, that American Flag Stingray is the car from the movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.
Turnout to the show was a little light this year, but the cars present were all of staggering quality. It figures that the people who really want to be at the show would also have the best stuff.
Enjoy the gallery!

Sit back and enjoy!
The Internet is a funny place, folks. Sometimes you write something about an obscure car you saw at a car show, and then get a response from the very person who created that car. Well that’s exactly what happened here.
I saw this Consulier GTP at Lime Rock over Labor Day weekend, and I wrote the segment below after some quick research for context on the car. Evidently, Mr. Mosler had some issues with what I found, and hey, who else would know better than him, right?
I haven’t altered anything here. I wanted to let the man himself say his piece about the car he created. I have left my original words intact below along with his responses.
Read it for yourselves, and see what you come away with:

While riding home from Lime Rock, Shane and I spotted this little white sports car about to exit Interstate 287 near the local rock quarry in Pompton Lakes. This is a late Seventies era Lancia Scorpion, which was a poor seller in the USA and therefore hardly-seen. It was at the show earlier in the day–but for some reason my camera’s watchful eye failed to catch it. Enjoy the shots of this late-era Italian classic.
I’ve been lucky to have driven a few Jaguar F-Types in the last few years. I drove the V6S and V8S models when they first came out, and then I drove the R Coupe a year later.
I think my biggest takeaway was just how much crazier the V8 was, with all that extra power going to the rear wheels. It was fast, like scary fast, and there was always the sense that it was testing the limits of its rear tires. It really kept me on my toes, and that made it really, really exciting.
Unfortunately, exciting doesn’t bode well with the safety concerns of modern automakers. We enthusiasts were hoping Jaguar would give us the V8 F-Type with a manual gearbox. Instead, they left the V8 models automatic-only, and took away our rear wheel drive. I guess that’s the price we pay for getting our hopes up.
So, has Jaguar tamed the beast? Have they neutered the big cat?

I’ve said before that most of the best drives come spur of the moment. That makes it somewhat challenging for me as a blogger to bring the experience to you, my readers, but my God, is it enjoyable in the moment. Many times those drives become fond memories for years.
I got out of work late on Monday. It was one of those days where you’re up to your ears in all sorts of stuff all day, and you only start really getting things done after most everyone has gone home. The crisp air that hit me when I walked out, though, that instantly cleared my head, and brushed off the stress of the day like it was nothing.
The first taste of Fall is one of the sweetest sensations in the life of a gearhead. It means the treacherous summer heat is nearing its end, and that many fun times are ahead in the best season of the year.
Feeling rejuvenated, I called my buddies Shane and Pat (Shat for short), and we agreed it would be a sin not to take the Miatas out for a blast in this perfect weather.
We met up for dinner at a local diner. Ace, my NC Mazda Miata Club Edition was parked next to Shane’s NA Miata R-Package out front, waiting eagerly for us to eat. Then, just after the sun had fallen off the horizon, we set off, fast, into the night.

As time has gone on, early Japanese sports cars have received more recognition for their groundbreaking design and engineering. The original Mazda rotary sports car, the Cosmo (which would be known eventually as the RX-7), is most definitely no exception. Quite expensive when new (over $4,000 in 1968), they were not that popular Stateside, but that would change by the subsequent decade. This white example shined brightly at the Hershey Concours this year, and grabbed my attention rather quickly. I believe it has grabbed your attention as well. Enjoy the photos. The Shelby Cobra was a truly legendary car, which took the standard muscle car formula of “big engine in a small car” and took it to its logical extreme, thanks to a puny British roadster infused with the beating heart of a Ford big-block V8 (or small block for the weak). The story has continued today, with various companies offering kit cars. My brother Matt was out and about on Sunday morning and came across this Cobra kit car sitting on the side of the street. He’s become quite a reliable car spotter out in L.A.–and he’s clearly not afraid of the egg-fryingly hot temperatures out there (unlike me, who is happy to sit in air conditioning the entire day). Thanks for the pickup, Matt!
