Porsche 996 GT2 at Cars and Coffee Porsche of Princeton

IMG_1970

This is a real gem, the ultimate 996, a Porsche 911 GT2. There aren’t a huge number of 996 GT2s out there, and many are trading hands for well over $150k.

I think it wears black well…

Aston Martin DBAR1 Zagato at Amelia Island

IMG_9008

This elegant barchetta by Zagato is still my personal favorite modern Aston Martin. The wail of a naturally aspirated V12, operated via a manual gearbox, with the wind in your hair… it’s just about perfect!

Highlights from the 2018 Cars and Caffe Season Opener

Here are some highlights from the Cars and Caffe Season Opener. It’s a little late because I came down with a really nasty flu right after the show, so I’m playing a bit of catch up.

Enjoy this taste of much more to come from this phenomenal event. If you live in the northeastern US, it’s really worth the trip.

The Bugatti Duo at the Philly Auto Show

Bugatti Veyron and Chiron Philly 2

This was the first time modern Bugattis have been on display at the Philadelphia Auto Show, and what a showing it was. A blacked-out Veyron Supersport and a brand new Chiron with the most gorgeous color scheme. It had a blue carbon body with a striking French Blue interior. It was unbelievable!

The Bugattis were on display in the CF Charities booth, accompanied by some of the most exotic cars on the planet. For those interested, you’ll be able to see these cars and more at the CF Charities Supercar Show in June.

Until then, enjoy this gallery!

Witness the brown-est Lamborghini Diablo on Earth

Brown Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 Amelia RM 7

Lamborghinis are usually seen in Skittles colors, but this Diablo VT 6.0 SE is pure chocolate. It has a stunning spec with a “Sunset Brown” exterior and a brown leather and carbon fiber interior.

It sold for $412,000 at the RM Auction at Amelia Island this year, delivered as new because it only had 14 miles on the clock.

Enjoy the gallery of this stunning brown bull!

Ferrari’s only 3-Seater, the 1966 365 P Berlinetta Speciale, at Amelia Island

Ferrari 365P Berlinetta Speciale Amelia 2

People know the 3-seater design from the McLaren F1, but Ferrari actually beat them to it by a few decades. Back in the late 1960s this 365 P Berlinetta Speciale, known as the “Tre Posti”, was built for Luigi Chinetti. It is a one-off roadcar that was built on a racecar chassis, believed to be that of a 365 P-2.

This was my second time laying eyes on the 365 P in person, and the first time in a decently photogenic location. It’s quite a car, and its owner was making full use of its three-seat design with his wife (presumably) and child. I have to wonder if he used the car’s “practicality” to justify his purchase…

Enjoy the gallery.

Jaguar XJR-15 at Cars and Coffee Amelia Island

Jaguar XJR-15 Cars and Coffee 5

Following up the Mercedes CLK GTR from last week, here is yet another 90’s unicorn we saw this year at Amelia Island, a Jaguar XJR-15. One of just 53 produced, it is the road going version of the 24hrs of LeMans-winning XJR-9 racecar. I mean, just look at the interior, and how the seats are just molded right onto the carbon tub. It’s an extreme experience to be sure.

We’ve seen this car a few times before, it’s been a staple of the Amelia Island scene every time we’ve been, but this was the nicest setting I’ve been able to shoot it in. Enjoy!

Mind Over Motor Podcast 4 – Amelia Island Recap, the new M5, Cheap Crap, and What’s a Mitsubishi?

Mercedes CLK GTR Spotted at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island

Mercedes CLK GTR Amelia 23

This was one of those HOLY SHIT moments. I go out for a test drive, come back, and there’s a literal unicorn sitting in the courtyard in front of the Ritz. I mean I had literally seen a McLaren F1 go by out on the road just a few minutes before, and what could possibly top that? A Mercedes CLK GTR is one of the few that could, and there it was!

This is only the second CLK GTR I’ve ever seen in person, and the only one actually in a public setting that had been driven in on the road. Just 25 CLK GTR road cars exist on our Earth, making it more than twice as rare as the mighty McLaren F1. It is such an insane machine, even in the company of other incredible cars it just trumps them.

For those unfamiliar with the Mercedes CLK GTR, it is quite literally a street-legal LeMans racing car. Back in the late 1990s carmakers had to build a small production run of street-legal versions of their racecars if they wanted to compete in the GT1 class at LeMans. Mercedes had the CLK GTR, McLaren had the F1, and Porsche had the 911 GT1. There were also a number of similar, more obscure GT1 homologations from Lotus, Nissan, Toyota, Lamborghini, and others.

The CLK GTR is powered by an AMG-built V12 producing somewhere in the neighborhood of 600hp, although this particular GTR appears to have had some extra work put into it so it may be even more.

It’s one thing to have a car that turn heads, it’s a totally different thing to have a car that will literally make people’s dreams come true when you roll up. This is surely the latter.

A Beautiful Ferrari 488 Spider Spotted in Greenwich, CT

Ferrari 488 Spider Greenwich 2

White over red is an extremely classy color combo on a Ferrari. It’s not as vulgar and audacious as the classic red, but the red leather interior still gives a nod to the marquee’s heritage.

This 488 is a truly immaculate machine. Enjoy!
