Hello everyone, and welcome to Independence Day. On this day in 1776, our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia to mark the birth of our great nation, the United States of America. And on this day in 2014, I would like to feature some of the best burnout pictures we have from the CF Charities Supercar Show last month in Warminster, Pennsylvania–just a stone’s throw from Philadelphia. The burnout may not be distinctly American, but few other automotive gestures are quite as fitting in this great nation as stepping up to the plate and spinning the rear tires into a pulp of rubber, smoke, and mayhem. These great citizens, some of which brought a few foreign cars (this cementing this American smoking institution as a great melting pot), were more than happy to show off their tire-shredding skills. Everything from a slightly crunchy BMW E36 coupe to a hard-boiled Ford F-350 dually packing a 7.3L PowerStroke turbo diesel V8 (with copious amounts of added diesel soot) took part, and much fun was had by all. We made it out to The Elegance at Hershey 2014 in Hershey, PA where Hershey’s chocolate is made. It is a great event at a wonderful venue, the five star Hershey Hotel. With beautiful gardens and fountains supplementing all of the stunning cars, it is surely a great place for photos.
There were many rare cars this year, everything from a French-market Cadillac built for the Rothschild family to the best-in-show winning Duesenberg “Mormon Meteor” Speedster. Enjoy the highlight gallery of the event and check back for features on some specific cars.

Fiat has been doing a pretty good job of marketing whatever new product they have. They have come a long way from the cringe-inducing “Jenny From the Block” ads that were running a few years ago, to running ads with P.Diddy and a little kid to advertise their newest creation. The 500 was a hit for them worldwide and in America, they’re certainly selling pretty well. In fact, there’s been a new kid on the block for them in the past year or so now, the 500L, a four-door model designed with the small family in mind. Fiat needs all the sales it can get right about now, as the 500L is in a tough marketplace and has not been getting a good amount of positive press. Here’s some fascinating automobile trivia for you. The inspiration for the legendary Ford Thunderbird (or T-Bird) came from a 1952 Ferrari Barchetta that was given to Henry Ford II by Enzo Ferrari. Yes, the two automakers had a long relationship before their famous falling out in the mid-1960s, which resulted in the Ford GT40. Just look at the styling of this one-off Ferrari Barchetta, especially the rear, and you will see the T-Bird in the making.
This one-off Ferrari currently resides in the Peterson Automotive Museum, and they let Jay Leno take it for a spin with his cameras rolling. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this machine that helped shape automotive history, because without this Ferrari, her daddy would’ve had to take away whatever else she was having fun, fun, fun with.

Here are the exotic cars from the 2014 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. There was quite a spectacular display of some very rare supercars and hypercars on display this year, everything from the $1.9 million Pagani Huayra you see above, to a Ferrari Enzo, to the world-speed-record-setting Hennessey Venom GT, to Jim Glickenhaus’ P4/5 Competizione. It was surely a sight to be seen.
The Pagani Huayra really stood out, though. It spent both days of the show tucked away in the corner of Miller Motorcars’ display tent, but it was completely swamped with people the entire time. When it left the field, people literally lost their minds, jumping around in a reckless frenzy to try and snag the perfect shot of it.
Is easy to see why people go completely nuts over the Huayra when after a decade of grueling depravation for American car enthusiasts, it is the first Pagani to finally make it stateside. But the Huayra is also an exceptionally magnificent object, even by seven-figure supercar standards. Every aspect of the car seems so “full,” right down to the finest detail — nothing has been overlooked or under-thought.

Drive has posted their NBC special on YouTube, so we figured we’d share it for everyone who hasn’t seen it. It originally aired on NBC as part of the coverage for the Monaco Grand Prix. Big props to everyone at Drive for getting that gig, and doing a phenomenal job with making us all learn, laugh, and drool. Chris Harris, Mike Spinelli and Matt Farah make a great trio, could Drive be the Top Gear of tomorrow?

We were up in Greenwich, CT this weekend for their annual Concours d’Elegance. There were incredible cars running around everywhere, both in the show and on the streets, so we have a lot of material coming for you soon. For today, here is an always-stunning Lamborghini Countach that we saw out and about to wet your appetite. There’s a Ferrari in there too, somewhere.

Blue and white is a fetching color combination. On a Ferrari, it’s usually a great combination no matter what. The Superamerica series was a fantastic piece of artwork, with lines by Pininfarina, a Colombo V12 engine, and even a set of tail fins on this show car. This one has been featured at numerous Concours events over the past few years or so and is the show car from the 1956 Paris Motor Show. The distinctive blue and white two-tone finish has been painstakingly well-kept and in the bright sunlight of Amelia Island, this Ferrari Superamerica caught my eye over the course of the entire day. It didn’t hurt that this car stayed on the course until it was time for Nick and I to leave the show for the day. Enjoy the photos. There were many nice supercars at Ladies and Lamborghinis in Clinton, NJ, however, this gem, a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona stood out. Thought by many to be one of the most beautiful Ferrari road cars of all time, the Daytona’s curved stature will turn heads in any sort of company.
The 365 GTB/4 succeeded the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 as Ferrari’s flagship V12 GT model in the late 1960s. It was then replaced by the 365 GT4 BB in 1973, which drastically changed form into a mid-engined supercar in order to rival the likes of Lamborghini’s Miura. The 365 GTB/4 was the last traditional two seat Ferrari GT car for two decades, until the 550 Maranello came out in 1996. Small wonder why it remained extremely sought after over the years.

We caught this vibrant orange Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 at the recent cruise night in Hopewell, NJ. The 6.0 was the last hurrah for the Diablo, and the first refinement of a Lamborghini model by Audi. Its V12 produced a robust 550hp, before the era where horsepower figures went nuts, and as the license plate says, it could scrape the 207mph mark flat-out.
This Diablo was kind of the show for a short time, until the Saleen S7 showed up and stole its thunder. It’s always great to see any of the crazy V12 Lambos with the scissor doors, though. The theatre of the original Countach lives on with an un-dulled effect to this very day. Enjoy the photos.

This event was a bit of a last minute thing for us. I was beginning to feel the 2 o’clock drowsiness in the office when I got a text from Al informing me of an event called Ladies and Lamborghinis going on that night in Clinton, NJ. It was like a shot of espresso for me, and I couldn’t wait to get up there for the festivities.
This was the inaugural Ladies and Lamborghinis event, and it was basically similar to other cruise night events hosted by towns that we’ve been to. Ironically, only one Lamborghini showed up — they should’ve called it Foxes and Ferraris instead.
There was a very nice crop of cars, though, including a very enticing classic Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and two Porsche 911 RS models. For an inaugural event, it was quite good, so hopefully they will get the word out more next time and build the attendance rate further because Clinton, NJ is a great venue.
