Honey, I shrunk the car! Well, no, I didn’t, but it certainly applies here. This is a Browniekar, which might be the most diminutive Brass Era automobile I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s small enough to trip over if you’ve had enough champagne at one of these shows, but just big enough to grab your attention. I’m not sure what this is, or why anyone thought it was a car for daily use, but it’s here and it’s showing up nicely. Continue reading 1908 Browniekar at the 2015 Elegance at Hershey

Better than an M3? Motor Trend pits the Cadillac ATS-V against the Mercedes-AMG C63 S

My pick in this one would be the Cadillac all day long. Johnny Lieberman disagrees, though, in favor of the Merc for some very subjective reasons. That’s the name of the auto journalist game, though. But for me, the Caddy’s more nimble handling, better performance measures, and $15,000 savings make it the obvious choice here.

Having said that, between the BMW M3, Cadillac ATS-V, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 S, there is no bad choice at this point. These are all phenomenal cars.

Enjoy!

1955 Dodge LaFemme at the 2015 Concours of America

Dodge La Femme Front//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

When it comes to advertising, no one knew how to advertise cars to women in the 1950s. It didn’t stop Dodge from trying, but they clearly weren’t so great at it either. Welcome to the 1955 Dodge La Femme–one of the most obscure 1950s Dodge products out there, regardless of engine or body type. Dodge attempted to make their car appeal to women, but they did it in such a way that would make most women blush with embarrassment for having to be in this car. 1987 Buick Grand National spotted in Royal Oak, MI

Buick Regal Grand National Front//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

On the Saturday evening of our road trip, Nick, Shane, and I were heading to dinner during a bunch of haphazard thunderstorms. While walking to Duggan’s (home of some very excellent French Dip and Cuban sandwiches), we hit one of these storms, but came across this sleek black Buick just sitting in the parking lot of the Italian restaurant next door. PT Cruiser Monster Truck at Hopewell Cruise Night

Chrysler PT Cruiser Monster Truck

Clearly this just needed to be posted. It’s a PT Cruiser gone PT Bruiser!

We caught this at the last Hopewell Cruise Night, down the road from most of the action. There were a few other such vehicles with it, but the PT Cruiser has a place close to my heart… it was my first car in Gran Turismo 3 as a kid, mostly because I knew what it was at the time.

This thing is a beast!

1960 Chevy Impala Spotted on Woodward Ave

Chevrolet Impala Woodward Ave 2

This beautiful 1960 Chevrolet Impala is a regular at the Woodward Ave Cruise Nights. I love its Marvin Martian details as well.

As a boulevard cruiser, things don’t get much better than this.

Enjoy the pics!

The Price Game: Mets Extra Edition!

It’s late July. You’ve just gotten back from the latest business meeting, and the Mets traded for Cespedes today. You’ve got five hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket, and a friend says, Odds are 100-1 on the Mets being in first place within a week of the trade. And because you won the bet, you’ve got $500,000 to spend on some cars. But, since you work full time, you’d better buy one car for each day of your work week. New cars and used are allowed–but used cars need to be within 200 miles of Central Jersey. Here’s the answers, both from me, and from Nick. Continue reading The Price Game: Mets Extra Edition!

Jeep CJ-5 spotted in Surf City, NJ

Jeep CJ-5

It’s kind of difficult to find nice cars in Long Beach Island, where I was all week last week. But, my patience eventually paid off. I like old Jeeps–they’re often modified so finding an un-molested one like this was a bit of a treat. I was eating ice cream when I saw it, and hastily finished my patriotic-sprinkled Cookie Dough waffle cone in time to shoot some photos of this before heading down the island for dinner. This CJ5 looks quite spiffy with its solid-white-letter tires, pristine softop and soft-doors, and full wheel covers. If anyone can spot the year, hit the comments and tell us!

1956 Chevrolet Hardtop

Until last month, I’d never been to Detroit. Nick kept telling me as we got closer and closer to the Motor City that the cruise-in scene on weekend nights was absolutely my sort of thing, and I was stoked. Of course, Mother Nature had other ideas. After Nick, Shane, and I got drenched in a freak thunderstorm that gave us the best rainbow I’d seen in a decade, I looked around at the cars that did manage to show up–and I wasn’t disappointed. Edmunds Compares the C2 Corvette and C7 Corvette

Edmunds takes us for a spin in two Corvettes separated by 50 years, a C2 Stingray and the current C7 Stingray.

My how things have progressed technologically, but I still think the C2 Stingray is the best looking Vette of all time.

Enjoy!
