1966 Shelby GT-350 at the Concours of America at St. Johns

When Carroll Shelby got his hands on the Ford Mustang for the very first time, amazing things happened, and history would be changed for good. From 1965 on, once the first GT-350 screamed to life and burned rubber off the assembly line, “Shelby” was associated with the phrase “fast Mustang”. Although little changed in his second year of selling the GT350, demand stayed white-hot. This slick Raven Black fastback is just a small sample of what these cars were capable of–and of those who bought them. Continue reading 1966 Shelby GT-350 at the Concours of America at St. Johns

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2015 RADNOR HUNT CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE: PART 2

Radnor Hunt 2015 Porsche 959 Front

And now we bring you our second round of highlights from the 2015 Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance. These were some of the more modern cars on the field, everything from supercars like the Porsche 959 seen above, to a Dodge Charger with a 426 Hemi under the hood. The Radnor Concours was really great this year.

Enjoy the gallery!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM LEAD EAST 2015: GALLERY 3

Lead East Ford Hot Rod Number 4

More American steel action, here is our 3rd round of highlights from Lead East 2015.

What I love most about all of these custom cars is the level of personality they possess. When a person builds a car into a custom ride, aspects of their personality rub off on the car, bringing the machine that much more to life.

Enjoy the photos!

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Spotted in Radnor, PA

Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 Radnor Hunt

Among the many awesome cars buzzing around the Radnor Hunt Concours last weekend, this beastly Camaro Z/28 caught my eye as it drove past.

A triumph of GM’s modern engineering, the Camaro Z/28 is a big heavy muscle car that is a helluva lot faster around a race track than it should be. With 305 section tires at all 4 corners, it has grip for days, so much so that it actually embarrassed the mighty Nissan GTR.

Happy Friday!

1967 Dodge Coronet R/T at Lead East

Coronet RT Front//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

While running around Lead East a few weeks ago, I was on the lookout for anything with a Chrysler Corporation badge on it. Luckily, I found this yellow Dodge sitting out back, unloved. No one wanted to give it any attention. Thankfully I found it, and gave it some love. It’s bright yellow, it packs a 440 cubic-inch V8 bruiser of an engine under the hood, chrome rolling stock at all four corners, massive exhausts, and a mean stinkbug stance. It’s just about the perfect definition of what a Coronet R/T is all about–showing off, and making noise. Enjoy the photos. Continue reading 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T at Lead East

1987 Buick Grand National spotted in Royal Oak, MI

Buick Regal Grand National Front//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

On the Saturday evening of our road trip, Nick, Shane, and I were heading to dinner during a bunch of haphazard thunderstorms. While walking to Duggan’s (home of some very excellent French Dip and Cuban sandwiches), we hit one of these storms, but came across this sleek black Buick just sitting in the parking lot of the Italian restaurant next door. Royal Oak Shell Cruise-In, July 25, 2015.

1956 Chevrolet Hardtop

Until last month, I’d never been to Detroit. Nick kept telling me as we got closer and closer to the Motor City that the cruise-in scene on weekend nights was absolutely my sort of thing, and I was stoked. Of course, Mother Nature had other ideas. After Nick, Shane, and I got drenched in a freak thunderstorm that gave us the best rainbow I’d seen in a decade, I looked around at the cars that did manage to show up–and I wasn’t disappointed. Autocross and a random car show? Sounds like Sunday.

Neon 3 Wheelin

Sunday was a long day for me, the 1993 Miata, and my sunburned skin. When it’s 90 degrees outside, the first thing into my mind is to run back inside and cower underneath my air conditioner, unless I’m at the beach. There is no air conditioning in the Miata anymore, and at this NASA/MSNE autocross event up at MetLife Stadium (home of the Jets and the Giants, and probably Jimmy Hoffa), it was hot enough to fry eggs on the street and fry my nose and forehead to a nice, golden brown (red). Shane turned up too, in his silver Miata which makes my car look concours-fresh. Continue reading Autocross and a random car show? Sounds like Sunday.

Price Game: One Car for Each Day of the Week on a $1 Million Budget

It’s time for the Price Game! So here’s the scenario. You’ve just won the lottery, but you’re being smart with the money. You want to buy every car in sight, but you know a few million doesn’t go that far these days, so better to invest most of it and keep the money coming in over time. To quench your spending thirst, you set aside an even $1,000,000 to play around with, and set your garage up in a manner that befits the new you.

There is also another catch, though. You want to be sure that you actually use all of the cars you buy on a weekly basis, so you elect to by exactly seven cars to play with… one for each day of the week.

So, going around to the various car-selling websites, how would you fill your seven garage slots?

Give your picks in the comments, and check out our selections below!

Nick’s Picks:
2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – $355,000
Front-engine V12 Ferraris are my favorite, and the F12 Berlinetta is the latest, and in many ways the greatest. It is the epitome of modern supercar technology, packaged as a Grand Touring car, but with insane supercar performance.
