There aren’t many good Cars and Coffee events in Central Jersey, so when something great shows up, I’ll pay attention. I’ve seen this blue and white Viper at a previous event, but when it’s a GTS in the classic combination, and as well-kept as any, it’s hard to walk by. Twenty years old? Sure doesn’t look twenty years old–looks much newer than that. Enjoy the photos of the original American Widowmaker.
I am a huge fan of cars in offbeat colors, and the Porsche Carrera GT happens to be one of my favorite cars of all time. This baby blue Carrera GT is one of the staples of the collection at Top Gear Imports. I had seen many photos of it around the interwebs, but it was unbelievable seeing the car in person. Light blue has always been my favorite color on Porsches but they didn’t offer the Carrera GT in such a hue when it was new.

I know I said I was iffy on the new Lamborghini Urus, and I still maintain it’s an Audi in Lamborghini clothes. That said, these are some pretty sweet clothes Lamborghini has fitted to this corporate SUV platform. I’ve been playing around with the Urus configurator, and I’m pretty stoked about the spec you see here. I think the metallic brown paint in contrast with the bright green accents and interior gives the Urus a badass off-roader, yet distinctively Lamborghini, look.

The new McLaren Senna is sure to be many things, but I really don’t think it should be considered a “hypercar.” Yes, that’s right, while most others are writing the same sort of ass-kissing articles about the Senna, I’m over here with my critic hat on.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the Senna a lot, and I’m sure it will be fast in ways not thought possible, but performance alone doesn’t constitute what makes a hypercar a hypercar. In fact, I’d say it’s traditional for the next generation of track-focused supercars to exceed the performance of the previous generation’s hypercars. I mean, the Porsche GT2 RS just shattered the 918’s Nürburgring time, but does anyone consider that a hypercar?
To me, the Senna seems pretty much the 720S equivalent of the 675LT in the previous generation, an ultra hardcore track-focused version of the McLaren Super Series car. Now, it does seem as though the Senna is an even more of a step up over the 720S than the 675LT was over the 650S. They’ve definitely raised the stakes here, so if the 675LT was the 650S turned up to 11, then the Senna is the 720S turned up to 12. But, faster lap times or not, that sure as hell doesn’t put it at the relative level of a P1, let alone the legendary F1.

We spotted this rich red McLaren 12C Spider while out and about in Carmel, CA during Car Week.

This was my first time seeing the new McLaren 720S in person, at the Driven By Purpose event in Liberty State Park. It’s pretty damn incredible when you see it in the flesh, a true cutting edge supercar. It’s proportions seem a tighter than those of the 650S, which it replaced, and a lot of the styling that seemed questionable in photos made sense when you can distinguish every little contour. I also loved this copper orange and black two tone color scheme. Very cool indeed, and supposedly that 720hp claim is more on the conservative side.
We’ll surely be seeing many more 720S’ around in the next year. Now I just need to find one I can drive for a proper review. Enjoy the gallery!
Sometimes great things do fall right in your lap. The other day I went to work and was having a pretty normal day. As I went to leave for lunch, I noticed this striking silver Acura NSX parked in front of our building. I had no idea why it was there, but where I work, at AWE Tuning, we get cool cars stopping by all the time. I checked out the NSX with my coworkers, and spoke with the driver, who I found out worked for Acura corporate. I knew my boss was going to take the car for a spin, but as we talked, he told me I could sign a release and drive the car too. Say no more, I signed the papers. It was going to be a fun lunch break…
This was crazy, a supercar drive had fallen in my lap on a random Monday afternoon. I didn’t have my proper camera on me, and the roads near work aren’t the best for testing out handling, but hey, I figured I’d make the absolute most of it. I only had about 10 minutes in the NSX, so it was just a taste, but it gave me a solid impression of what Acura’s new supercar is all about.

No matter what your fancy is, some of the best cars from the famous Cannonball Run were on display at the Greenwich Concours this year. Whether it’s the homage #144 Polezei BMW M5 driven by Alex Roy some years ago across America (a world record winner), the Chevy Malibu police car (my personal favorite), or the Dodge Tradesman ambulance, there was a smorgasbord in attendance. They even had Dan Gurney and Brock Yates’ Ferrari Daytona in attendance–the winner of the second race, and one of the more infamous cross-country cars still around. These cars were true crowd-pleasers, and even Nick, who normally laughs at Malaise-Era stuff, found the Dodge to be amusing (especially when the open exhaust announced the sound of a completely un-muffled small block Dodge).
