Mercedes G63 AMG Monster Truck at First Class Fitment

Mercedes G63 AMG Monster Truck First Class Fitment

The Mercedes G63 comes from the factory as a fast, off-road-capable SUV, but for this owner, it clearly wasn’t enough.

Motor Trend pits the Mercedes AMG GT S against the Jaguar F-Type

Which six-figure sports coupe is better, the Mercedes AMG GT S or the Jaguar F-Type R?

Motor Trend finds out which is the winner, but honestly I’d recommend each of them to anyone.

Enjoy!

Various Racing Machines in the Laguna Seca Paddock

Porsche 956 Laguna Seca Paddock

Some more shots from the Paddock of Laguna Seca during Monterey Car Week, here is a gallery of awesome racing cars, old and new.

I always love seeing the old pre-war racecars sitting right next to more modern racecars, like Group C, because it really puts in perspective how far the automobile has come in just a few decades. That said, the drivers of those older racing cars were men among men. Those cars were not especially slow at all, reaching over 100mph, but with very primitive technology.

Enjoy the spectacle!

The Epic Saga of Sir Stirling Moss

Sir Stirling Moss will always be among the most revered racing drivers in history. His story is nothing short of miraculous. He danced with death every time he got in a car, and he’s lived to enjoy his golden years as a hero of the motoring community.

Moss experienced the greatest victory, unfathomable fame, the most beautiful women, the fastest cars, and the most treacherous of wrecks. And through everything he has always kept his hysterical sharp wit and uncompromising sense of class and sportsmanship.

His story is truly remarkable, and I had the honor of seeing Sir Stirling Moss speak a few years back at Lime Rock.

Enjoy his fascinating story!

2015 Los Angeles International Auto Show General Gallery

Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

Over Thanksgiving weekend this year, I finally got to cash in my birthday present from last year–my brother Matt agreed to take me to the Los Angeles Auto Show if I’d come visit him. I decided that it would be foolish to say no–after all, I’d been going to the New York Auto Show for a decade and a half, and I’d never seen the show in Los Angeles. Sorry, New York crew–but the LA Auto Show is indeed better. It’s cleaner, the city doesn’t smell like a New Jersey sewer, there’s real parking (and they charge only twenty bucks, whereas New York charges whatever they darn well please), and there’s even some ride-and-drives (which I did only two, but will definitely drive one of those two cars again soon). Exotic Supercar Sounds from the Radnor Hunt Concours

We all know that no exotic car show is complete without some V12s echoing over the countryside as people leave the event. Luckily we were much obliged this year at the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance. Everything from a V10 Lexus LFA to a straight pipe V12 Lamborghini Murcielago opened the taps as they left the show.

We were there with our cameras ready!

Turn your speakers up and enjoy!

Better than an M3? Motor Trend pits the Cadillac ATS-V against the Mercedes-AMG C63 S

My pick in this one would be the Cadillac all day long. Johnny Lieberman disagrees, though, in favor of the Merc for some very subjective reasons. That’s the name of the auto journalist game, though. But for me, the Caddy’s more nimble handling, better performance measures, and $15,000 savings make it the obvious choice here.

Having said that, between the BMW M3, Cadillac ATS-V, and the Mercedes-AMG C63 S, there is no bad choice at this point. These are all phenomenal cars.

Enjoy!

New Hope Auto Show 2015 Day 2

New Hope 2 Ford GT Mercedes SLR

This is our highlight gallery from Day 2 of the 2015 New Hope Auto Show last weekend. Sunday is always about supercars and other european cars, and this year was WAY better than last year.

Everything from a Renntech Mercedes SLR McLaren, to a Lexus LFA, to a Porsche 959 were present, along with the most minty Lamborghini Diablo SV I’ve ever seen.

Enjoy the photos!

Highlights From the 2015 Greenwich Concours Day 2

Greenwich 2 Lamborghini Miura Side

On Day 2 of this year’s Greenwich Concours d’Elegance we were blessed with a sudden downpour that made everyone run for cover. However, it also covered all of the immaculate cars in some beautiful water droplets, making for some wonderful photos. Rain and clouds also really make the colors “pop”, so I actually prefer it to direct sunlight for shooting cars. I’d imagine that the gentleman in the silver Porsche RSK Spyder (below) might disagree, though.

There were some truly beautiful cars displayed on Day 2, including that bright yellow/green Lamborghini Miura you see above – we saw him driving around on the streets of Greenwich before the show, and promptly lost bowel control. Thankfully we all had a change of pants in the car.

I should also point out that the green Ferrari Daytona Spider (seen below) is the only one ever made in that color, so one of the rarest examples of an already rare car. The Pagani Huayra was also said to be “one of one”, but every Pagani is built custom to order, so every other Huayra is equally “one of one” – people just love to toot their own horn, I guess, but an incredible car for either way. (My Subaru is “one of one” too, if you count it’s unique stone chips)

I thought last year’s Greenwich Concours was the best in recent memory, but this one just may have topped it. There’s more to come from the event, but enjoy looking through our highlight gallery of Day 2!

Mercedes AMG GT-S Spotted in Greenwich, CT

Mercedes AMG GT-S Greenwich CT

We’ve just returned from an exciting and car-tastic weekend at the Greenwhich Concours d’Elegance. We have tons of great material to bring you in the coming weeks, but take this as a small teaser.

We were perusing the parking lot, which is always interesting, and this brand new Mercedes AMG GT-S pops out of nowhere. This is the first AMG GT-S I’ve seen out in public, and we actually got to check one out in the show as well. I think it is a great looking car with the right sort of package to take on the Porsche 911s in its price range: 4.0L twin turbo V8, “503” German horsepower, and around 3500lbs with great weight distribution. Looks promising.

Much more to come from Greenwich!
