This is one of those insane racecars from the dawn of the automotive era. It’s got a 9.5L inline 4 from a period fighter plane stuffed under its hood, and not much extra car around it. This is a racer from an era when the drivers had some serious stones because the speeds were very real and the safety measures were nonexistent.

This legendary Japanese sports car, the Toyota 200GT, was one of the stars of The Elegance at Hershey. Its sleek sports car shape is timeless, and its classic reputation will endure as a part of the history of the automobile. It’s always awesome to see this car in person. Enjoy!
I regret that I showed up late for this event. In fact, I showed up so late that I managed to miss most of the show. While I ate plenty of crow for that, I got to see most of the show leave along the exit road, and learned that at the AACA meet, always expect the unexpected. Among these Mopars featured today include the usual suspects, such as Superbirds and a Hemi car or two. However, take a good look at that 1942 DeSoto–one of the rarest years of the brand and a car almost never seen even by keen-eyed enthusiasts. My personal favorite? Take a good look at the cover photo. I have not seen many two-door late C-Body New Yorker coupes, and a black over tan example caught my eye and never gave it back. The new 991.2 GT2 RS may have just crushed the Nurburgring production car lap record, but this, the previous gen 997 GT2 RS is still the big daddy of desirable Porsche 911s in my book. The new GT2 RS has 700hp, but it’s also totally loaded with tech to help it be as fast and as controllable as possible. This car has 620hp, but requires the driver to shift their own gears and control the flow of all that torque to the rear wheels. There’s a lot less tech in the 997 than in the 991, and I think that makes it a more timeless experience in the long term.
This is still very much a widow-maker 911, and it’s the ultimate turbocharged 911 yet to be offered with a clutch pedal. The new one is cool, but for me, the 997 is what dreams are made of. Enjoy!
Here’s a rare bird that most of you have likely never seen before. I know I can count myself in that category. Here is a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado with the Touring Package installed, a very rare option for this car. Cadillac would delete some of the chrome, add black accents, and fit upgraded suspension and better tires for this package. The BMW Z8 is such a handsome car with its classico-modern BMW 507 homage design. The right interior sets the look off even more, and this Z8 at the Misselwood Concours had it. Silver is a rather dull color, but with a bright red, black and silver interior, it was a total head turner. Business on the outside, party on the inside.
The BMW Z8 is one hell of a roadster. It has the 4.9L V8 from a BMW M5 underneath its classic looks that sends power through a proper manual gearbox. It’s a total dream car, and that’s why its value has either held or exceeded its original MSRP of $128,000 over time. Right now asking prices range from as much as $300,000 for top examples down to around $130,000 for cars with some miles on them. Buy at the right price and a Z8 is a car you can drive and enjoy and it won’t really cost you anything over time.

This adorable little firecracker is a Fiat Abarth 750 GT Zagato. It’s a Fiat 600 chassis underneath, but turned up to 11 by Abarth. With an extra 150cc under the hood, it has all of 43hp to move its scant 1250lbs. That may not sound like much today, but these were serious racecars back in the 1950s and 1960s.
I bet a racing series with a bunch of light nimble machines like this would be an absolute riot. But it’s about more than just speed. This little Abarth has so much flavor, so many fine details that give it such a classic Italian style. Any car Zagato touches becomes a masterpiece. I just love it!

This was my first time seeing the new McLaren 720S in person, at the Driven By Purpose event in Liberty State Park. It’s pretty damn incredible when you see it in the flesh, a true cutting edge supercar. It’s proportions seem a tighter than those of the 650S, which it replaced, and a lot of the styling that seemed questionable in photos made sense when you can distinguish every little contour. I also loved this copper orange and black two tone color scheme. Very cool indeed, and supposedly that 720hp claim is more on the conservative side.
We’ll surely be seeing many more 720S’ around in the next year. Now I just need to find one I can drive for a proper review. Enjoy the gallery!
